Sting, the British singer, who released the seasonal album "On A Winter's Night" this week, said he's fascinated by American politics, Obama, and also by Obama's opponents on the right.

"It's aggressive and violent and full of fear," he said of the backlash against Obama.

MEANWHILE back in reality:

WANTAGE, N.J. (AP) - Police in New Jersey are trying to determine who fired a bullet that struck CNN commentator Lou Dobbs' home as his wife stood nearby. State police Sgt. Stephen Jones says Dobbs' wife and driver were outside the home Oct. 5 when they heard the gunshot. Jones says the bullet didn't penetrate the siding and fell to the ground outside.

Dobbs mentioned the bullet earlier this week on CNN and his radio show.

Dobbs says he had been receiving threatening phone calls for weeks. On his radio show, he connected the gunshot to his advocacy for a crackdown on illegal immigration and to his opponents' rhetoric.

The home is on a farm in Wantage, about 50 miles northwest of New York City.

It is small-game hunting season, but no hunters were seen in the area.

Why? Because it doesn't meet YOUR agenda?

The fact that the bullet did not even penetrate the siding makes any claim this was fired at him sound like a 1000lb of crap in a 10lb bag.

Meet my agenda? WTF are you talking about? What agenda do I have? Are you saying that there is a vast conspiracy to kill this guy?

A bullet hits the side of his house and does not even penetrate and some how it is implied that it was intended to do him harm and that it was someone from the left?

The fact that the bullet did not even penetrate the siding (it fell to the ground outside) shows it was shot from so far away the chance it was actually shot at Mr Dobbs is VERY REMOTE.

Not necessarily true - what did the bullet pass through on it's way to the house, and what condition was it in when it struck the house?

If we were lucky it would have left the grassy knoll, by way of Glen Beck on its way to the house. I guess that is what slowed it down.

While violent elements generally only compose a small portion of a political "side", the Secret Service seems to think that the violent elements against Obama are numerous and committed, much more so than those against Bush. So that would seem to indicate which "side" contains the greater threat.

Seven Indicted In Alleged Johnston County KKK Terrorism Plot

Posted: Jan 9, 2006

RALEIGH, N.C. — Seven alleged associates of a Ku Klux Klan leader who once threatened to blow up Johnston County's courthouse and kill the sheriff faced federal charges Monday that they conspired to further their plot by trading in stolen firearms.

The seven include the son and wife of Charles Robert "Junior" Barefoot Jr., the self-proclaimed leader of the Nation's Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, based in Benson. He is being held on a state murder charge in the slaying of Lawrence Arthur Pettit of Jacksonville, whose decomposed body was found in a Sampson County field in 2003. Barefoot also faces federal charges of possessing explosives in his home.

Federal prosecutor Eric Goulian referred questions about the case to Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell, who was allegedly targeted by the Klan chapter.

Barefoot was arrested in 2002 after federal and local authorities raided his home near Benson and found 25 firearms and bomb-making equipment. The raid followed a tip to authorities that Barefoot's organization planned to blow up the courthouse and kill Bizzell.

Firearms are also the root of the federal indictments issued late last month and unsealed Monday. The seven named in the indictment were accused of conspiring to steal 31 guns from a building in Benson in October 2001 and selling some of them for at least $1,650.

Bizzell said the money was intended to finance the Klan chapter's plans.

Arrested Friday on the indictments were Barefoot's son, Daniel Leigh Barefoot; Jonathan Ashley Avery; Jonathan Maynard; and Rossie Lynwood Strickland, Bizzell said. All faced a federal magistrate on the charges Monday, he said.

Barefoot's wife, Sharon Renee Barefoot; Marvin Glen Gautier of Benson; and Michael Anthony Brewer of Lumberton were already jailed on the murder charge, Bizzell said.

Bizzell said the group's anger stemmed from their failed plans to march as a group in a popular community festival, the Benson Mule Days. Charles Barefoot had invited an important Klan figure from Indiana to watch them march in a parade and was embarrassed when local Klan members were barred, Bizzell said.

"I think they became irate about that," Bizzell said.

And what's the point of all this? To demonstrate that no single political ideology holds sway over radicalism or violence.

You mean the two term governor of California; the most heavily populated state in the country? The former president of the actors union; the Screen Actors Guild? That Ronnie?

Yeah, he was an actor but even so had much more experience than our current president before he ran against the peanut farmer in 1980.

If you live in a rural community, in an area frequented by hunters, having a stray bullet hit your home isn't all that unusual.

Well, not to put too fine a point on it, but she's never RUN for anything, has she?

Stray rounds in a city are unlikely to be from long guns, pistol rounds (including full auto) are much more likely.

Applause My point exactly. The left is constantly on the conservatives as the home of violence. The whole point of this is that violence comes from ideologues on all sides. Funny how the statement, "Remind me again which side is aggressive and violent and full of fear." automatically brings out the deniers who assume it says only their side can be violent. Both sides have their violent, aggressive, fearful element. It's just that, for the most part, it is only one side that acknowledges this.

Might be partially our own fault, KL...selling licenses, fuel, ammo, ice cream, and Labatt's Blue all in the same store probably contributes to the idiocy of the posers in blaze orange every 15NOV...
