Always keeping the moral high ground the Republican National Committee's Facebook site has numerous photo's posted including a picture of President Barack Obama eating fried chicken, subtitled with a call to prohibit interracial marriage.

The photo's caption read: "Miscegenation is a CRIME against American Values. Repeal Loving v. Virginia."

Miscegenation refers to the "marriage or cohabitation between a man and woman of different races." Loving v. Virginia was a landmark Supreme Court case that, in 1967, struck down all of the US's laws against interracial marriage.

Other photos causing consternation included one of Mother Teresa, in which the revered religious activist was shown feeding a child. The caption underneath read, "Enabling scab-eating mouth breathers will do them no good. How do we expect them to take care of themselves?"

Yes sir, that's the moral high ground indeed.

This kind of racism from prominent members of the GOP is rampant. Seems like every week we hear about another state legislator or prominent member of the GOP that got caught sending racist emails, posting racist comments on their facebook pages or just saying them out loud.

Ignoring the ignorant is almost as fun as ridiculing the ridiculous.

Whether we agree or not...it is freedom of speech.
Racism is not just associated with the republican party, Most all of the racist quotes that I had heard from my neck of the woods were from democrats. Racism does not have a political party.

No it doesn't, but I sure don't see prominent Democratic leaders getting caught posting racist pictures, sending racist emails or SAYING racist things in public like the GOP leaders are.

Members of the Huffington post or the DU probably started a facebook page titled it RNC and posted that stuff.

This racism charge is a red herring to distract from the real crime of dismantling the constitution in favor of socialism.

Thumper, exactly which site are you talking of?

There are at least 4

If you were honest you would provide a verifiable source to the offending items.

Funny, but I would think if this were true, it would have been all over the main stream media. Since it isn't, one can only deduce that it is a lie.

Its a story broken by Democratic Underground, and bandwagoned by Daily Kos so who knows- mujst be the de jure talking point.

There are 4 RNC "sites" on facebook, only 1 looks official and has 95,000+ members, 1 has 2 members, 1 has 4 members, so first question should be which site. Second question should be were they in the photosection or the ads on the right margin?

Liberal democrats are very good at ginning up phoney-baloney stories, lies, quotes, pictures, etc., and then running with them...this is probably another one of those cases.

Here are some other interesting SPAM-related facts to consider:

In the United States, 3.8 cans of SPAM are consumed every second.

Hawaiians eat an average of four cans of SPAM per person per year (this is the highest SPAM consumption rate per capita in the world).

Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia eats a SPAM and mayonnaise sandwich three times a week.

Nikita Krushchev credited SPAM with the survival of the WWII Russian army. Quote Krushchev: "Without SPAM, we wouldn't have been able to feed our army."

I am sure in 1942 when he joined, he had plenty of company from both the democratic and republican parties. It was a much different country then. He left the Klan in 1952 and has since apoligized a thousand times. Unlike many, he made a mistake and then corrected it as best he could.

Do a little, little research on this. Michael Steet the head of the RNC had this site put up, where in the universe did you get that this was a Huffington post or DU site? Nice try at denial but thats a river in Egypt.

In all fairness to the GOP, these were fan photos which can be submitted by anyone who fans the group on facebook. There is no way to tell if the posters were *******s who happened to be Republicans, or Democrats trying to make the GOP look worse.

It does not speak well for the GOP that having decided to utilize this medium they then failed to monitor it sufficiently. However, even in the worst case this would seem to be more characteristic of extremists within the party, rather than the party as a whole.
