Each day I will post various remarks from our Founders on what they thought about on various subjects. Since our inception as a country it
seems, at least to me America looks very different today than then. Many of their beliefs shaped the beginning. In many respects we have set ourselves up for collapse from within. Not from all people, but from those who wish America to change it's face or to fail outright. It is because of the latter that I decided to launch this series. Please feel free to discuss these remarks that were made so long ago. I believe this information is very important, especially for the military since they are the armed protectors of our nation, the front lines of our defense and as to our very survival as a nation in this world. Day 2: Bureaucracy Declaration of Independence July 4, 1776 Topic: Bureaucracy He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance. Madison, James (likely) Federalist No. 62 1788 Topic: Bureaucracy It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man who knows what the law is today can guess what it will be to-morrow. Madison, James speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention June 16, 1788 Topic: Bureaucracy There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations. Jefferson, Thomas letter to Thomas Cooper Nov 29, 1802 Topic: Bureaucracy If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretence of taking care of them, they must become happy. Jefferson, Thomas letter to William Ludlow September 6, 1824 Topic: Bureaucracy I think we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious. Think about what I am saying here. Really, really think about it.
The white man formed this country into the greatest nation on the planet. The white man will also be responsible for its destruction. |

Ahh... it's like the old Cosby joke: "I brought you into this world, I can take you out." I get it. Of course, that reminds me of the Peter Griffin joke... Peter - [while riding an elephant]... "Look Lois, the two symbols of the Republican Party: an elephant, and a fat white guy who is threatened by change..." |
