Do you live in the past, present, or think of the future?
Part of me lives in the past..for obvious reasons...the good memories, inoccence[sp?][my inoccense[sp?]and the pursuit of goals...which may not be too late. But in this day and age where our life has been "changed" by 9-11, what do you live for? T |

I have always planned ahead, and lived in the now. But as far as our life changing, if you look around life hasn't changed at all for 99% of the people, unless you count having to take your shoes off in the airport. I mean, what were we asked to do as a society? Go and shop? "Never try to teach a pig to sing; It wastes your time and annoys the pig." - Heinlein |

As I have pointed out in other threads, There are many 'supporters' who's chief sacrifice is buying a magnet to stick on their vehicle.
I mean, I hear a lot of talkers boosting military action just about everywhere we have a conflict, but has the nation been asked to really pitch in? Just look at the ballooning federal budget to pay for this? And they keep borrowing to keep paying for it? We have more 'contractors' (read mercenaries, strictly speaking) than we do troops in country? Did that work for ancient Rome? And no, life hasn't changed. Look around. Folks are going about their business worried more about Britney, and OJ, Football and NASCAR than they ever spend thinking about what the hell we are supposed to be doing. For myself life has changed dramatically.I try to live for the moment, enjoy, laugh at myself. When I went to CCW the Cop teaching the class gave us some great advice,it was that most AMERICAN's live in a "haze" or "white zone".Going to the mall they concentrate on the next shopping conquest and are focused on that. When driving a car/truck/bike,etc, you move into yellow alert status or more aware.I choose to be in yellow alert continuously, maybe I miss something now and then, but it's good practice! Here's to the next moment! Great post by the way!

FOR THE MOMENT WE HAVE SUCH A LEADER WITH THE BALLS TO SAY IT LIKE IT IS,AND MEAN IT. Prime Minister John Howard - Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Television "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia : one the Australian law and another Islamic law that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said. Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want, to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians." "However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia " "However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle." "This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom" "We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!" "Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture." "We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us." "If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others. "This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'." "If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted." Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths. |

Sadly, the 5th Column left wing in the USA will pull out all stops to eradicate any and all beliefs such as this. Rather than accepting that some beliefs are worth preserving they are insistent of doing all they can to eliminate all concepts that made American great.

When the vast majority disagree with how the country is being directed and are powerless to put a stop to it, we are no more than a dictatorship under the banner of a democracy and power and wealth has won out and are now shooting for world power. Joe stalin said many years ago that the only difference between a democracy and dictatorship was that in a democracy the people got to elect thier dictator every 4 years. I guess someone was listening and taking notes? When a sitting president and vice president can publicly state they are not answerable to other branches of government that seems to justify Stalins claim. |

Live for the moment, by all means. Don't hesitate for a moment. Have a nice day. Take your wife out to dinner. Let her ruin you financially as mine does.
But think of the future. It's easy today to do what you want, but things change. The people of 1850 had no idea that in 1861 we would have a war within our borders. A good chance it could happen again. Nobody believes it. You might consider stocking up on what you might need like beans, vienna sausage (they're tasty little morsels) , medical supplies or 1911's and AR-15's or your every day bazooka. Ammunition is getting expensive. Stock up now. Join the organizations that keep us free. . . like the NRA. Now as a passing thought, buying a truckload of lead might be fun, molds and sizers too. Bullet lube like Javelina comes in handy sometimes. If and when the time comes, just crank up the backyard barbeque; pop in 10 or 20 pounds of lead; let it simmer for a time; Throw in a tin can for flavor and stir. . . Remember dial #1 for Engish. . . Large or small primers come in handy. Pop them in a shell with a little gun powder. Now you are set for the future. Now, when a truck pulls up in your front yard full of lead and your wife starts to go nuts, just tell her you are going out for dinner at her favorite restaurant. She is not to worry about some things. Oh, she is so pretty tonight. Don't forget to tell her and maybe she should buy a new pair of shoes. |

I live for the future. I REFUSE to live my life in mortal fear of 9-11. Truthfully and sincerely, I believe I would rather just go ahead and have a bomb dropped on me, than to have to live that way. At least I would have died the free human that God made me. I think it is wrong to fear. It is like saying that God is not in control, and I do not believe that.

Sorry USAF, but life has changed. I personally reflect on the past for experiance, (learning from my mistakes, etc.) But I live for today and plan for tommorro.
But life has changed since 9-11. During the cold war, there was always the thought and preparations for war. After the cold war, there was relative peace. But since 9-11, the thought became a reality. There is no longer a sense of security anymore. We now have threat levels and etc. that weren't a big deal before. America is more vigilant than before. I and most everyone else in my community do not trust the middle easterners who own stores around here anymore. Not that we're prejuduce, but we don't know where their money is going, or what their up too. We cannot afford to trust them. Yes life has changed. |

I dont see no big muslim outcrys against thier barbarian brethern. even after 9/11 they was dancing in the streets in some places. |

I live for the now, I have fun and I also help our Vets. I ride to honor the fallen, I protect the families from protesters.
I spend time with the families after there loved are buried and forgotten by most. I have gone to visit them months afterwards. As a matter of fact, one family recently had a new baby from the guys sister. The group I ride with have been invited to visit them again. I may not be able to do much, but when you see a mother that comes out and throws her arms around you and hugs you like a son. There is no feeling better than that. I once told her, if the only to meet her was like this, I wish we were strangers, but since the funeral of her son, she has gained many of us riders as friends. We cant take the pain of her loss away, but we show her that there are folks that do care about a Soldier that dies for his country. I live for the now, since I have being doing this Patriot Guard Riders stuff, live is short and tomorrow is never certain. USAF, I do support our troops, not just a magnet either. As a civilian, I spend more time with Active Duty and Vets than anyone else. I have been doing this alot longer than its been the "thing" to do. Vietnam Vets are my friends, I know many of them. They have accepted me as one of there own. I will never know there whole story, but I have learned more than most about them cause I do care. My being insane, is what makes other people normal. |
