LOL!Jefferson is what you would call a Democrat, though they called it Republican Democrats (To reflect the true nature of our Government) Later they just dropped "Republican" which the rump of the Whig party later adopted.

Uh, Thomas Jefferson was a founder of the Democratic Party, and at least three of those Presidents would almost certainly be Democrats if they were alive today.

Was TR conservative?

FDR wasn't breaking any laws, even Biblical ones.
He had sons that went on to serve in the Military, one was even a Marine Raider.

Think about this, outlaw:

Republican party was CREATED in 1854.

"Republican democrat" or correctly put Democrat-Republican party lasted all of 3 decades and was the brain child of Jefferson amd Madison and had absolutely NO relation to the other parties individually. Democrat party (social liberalism) of today was founded 1824.

For the socialists to sit here and go and go about Craig is the heighth of hypocrisy since socialists aka dems have advocated all manner of perversion for 200 years in this country.

If the founding fathers would have known what 'open-mindedness' would eventually do to this country hundreds of years later, they would have all been staunch conservatives. Even past Democrats would be in horror of what is allowed in society today. I don't even need to be the all-knowing seawitch to be sure of that. Wink

What, pray tell, has "Open-mindedness" done to destroy the Republic?

A better question might be; What hasn't it done to destroy the country? The decay of morals, the destruction of the family, the consent to openly gay everything, the lack of discipline to illegal immigrants and criminals, the vast waste of taxpayer money to support the lazy and the manipulative....I could go on.

'Liberal'. definition: A person so open-minded that their brain slid out of their heads.

So, the alternative is better? A society closed to new ideas, intolerant and repressive? Was George Orwell's vision of 1984 the right way we should have followed?
Maybe you think societies like Iran (religious conservative, theocratic) are better?

quote:
The decay of morals, the destruction of the family
Hmmm, what group seems to have the most trouble when it comes to walking the walk, from all their talk? How many "Moral" political leaders have been divorced? How many condemn gays in public, but act gay in private (or not so private, like in restrooms?)

Looks to me like your examples have feet of clay....

Teddy was an anti-big business environmentalist who expanded government authority, believed in human evolution, encouraged the hiring of minorities and women in government, and was pro-Union.

Sounds like a Democrat to me.

Our devolving began only about 40 or so years ago. Prior to that new ideas were embraced about as much as they are today(or we would never have progressed to the point that we did back then). Repressive? What an overused and weak term that i still hear spilling from ignorant mouths on a daily basis at work. Any kind of order, morals, codes of conduct, or civilization as a whole for that matter is going to offend someone, or 'repress' someone from doing exactly as they please regardless of circumstances. Liberals spend all their time attempting to make it where anyone can do anything at any time for any reason with no consequences or responsibilities, while subsequently destroying the very foundation of any type of civilization left.

I won't even bother with your other lame comment.
