So, the nay-sayers who say that the American training of Iraqi soldiers to defend their own homeland is not working and would bail on them, how do you respond to this one?

quote:
Iraqi army says Iraqi al-Qaida leader arrested 12 minutes ago

The leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Ayyub al-Masri, was arrested in the northern city of Mosul, the Iraqi Defense Ministry spokesman said Thursday. Mohammed al-Askari said the arrest of al-Masri, also known as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, was confirmed to him by the Iraqi commander of the province. There was no immediate confirmation or comment from U.S. forces.

News of the arrest was also reported by Iraqi state television.

"The commander of Ninevah military operations informed me that Iraqi troops captured Abu Hamza al-Muhajir the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq," al-Askari told The Associated Press by telephone.

He did not have any further details nor did he say when the al-Qaida leader was arrested. According to unconfirmed reports, however, he was caught Thursday evening in the Tayran area in central Mosul, 225 miles northwest of Baghdad. Mosul is currently a major battleground for U.S. forces and al-Qaida.

Al-Masri took over al-Qaida in Iraq after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed June 7, 2006 in a U.S. airstrike northeast of Baghdad.

U.S. officials said al-Masri joined an extremist group led by al-Qaida's No.2 official. He later joined al-Qaida training camps in Afghanistan in 1999 and trained as a car bombing expert before traveling to Iraq after the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.

The results may not be as quick and clean and nice as what an instant gratification society wants, but they are nonetheless RESULTS!

So make the best of this test, and don't ask why.
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right.

We should count our blessings...if these dimolibs had been around for Pearl Harbor they would have surrendered on Dec. 8th of '41.

LOL...You guys crack me up, nothing wrong with what happen today but:

I remember back in 2005 when we caught one of the top five most wanted terrorists in Mosul...

I remember when Abu Musab Al Zarqawi was killed....The last AQI Leader

Now....

We have the LATEST AQ leader captured in, MOSUL...lol

and guess what? There will be disorganization, and confusion for a short while but his appointed successor is already waiting in the wings...

The only time to celebrate is when our troops our home, then the job is done....

Dude, I was on the ground when Abu Tallah was caught in Mosul...and we celebrated and cheered, and then the CO said "Now, this new feller here..."...lol Roll Eyes

I was still in the Military when Zarqawi was caught and boy were we happy, and then another CO was like "Hey guess what boys, we got this new character here" lol Roll Eyes

People forget what kind of war this is by celebrating the killing or capturing of the latest "bad guy"...who cares? it will change nothing....Those individuals do not control and hopes and desires of sunnis and shittes, they do not control their hatred for one another...

They mean nothing....It will simply slow down violence for a bit, and then the new guy will establish his command and begin over again...

WAIT A MINUTE NOW.. You know the first thing they would have to do is blame the Japanese attack on the President of the United States, then they would try to make the rest of the Country see that it was an inside job..

Then Surrender. Wink

Dude,

Dude? Anyway,... I stand by my statement. Looking at the bright side once in a while wouldn't hurt. It has to be depressing only seeing the bad.

WOW until I read what you just typed I had never looked at her profile either, kind of shocking to see that we both have the last name.

AngelHeart, I don't know if you ever looked into your family tree, but if you have family members from around Hopkinsville Kentucky about 120 years ago I guess we may be cousin's.

Its politics dude, like I said this is good but rather worthless in the long run....Now if the US Government would announce that the Iraqi government is effectively spending all those billions they have earned through Oil Exports then i'll be pleased...

Do you know as proven fact that they are not? If so, show your sources as to EXACTLY where those oil export billions are being spent and document your sources as being credible.

In the big scheme of things - one less terrorist is still one less terrorist American military personnel don't have to worry about in an area where some of the heaviest military action is happening on the ground "dude".

The irony is that while you're both high-fiving each other about wussy Democrats and what they'd have done in WWII, they uh... happened to be in power in WWII. The country was being managed by an individual named Franklin D. Roosevelt. Perhaps you've heard of him!

By the way... we won the war. Just FYI.

Good point. Truman didn't hesitate to drop the bomb on their arse. And FDR had no issue invading North Africa, Italy, and finally France even though none of them attacked us. Of course he used more than 130,000 troops too..

And you know what. Those in France did great us with flowers.. Of course we occupied many of them (Germamny and Japan for what 60 years). Spent billions rebuilding them. And of course turned two nations into d
