X5? Very good one.

I am more on speed than torque, and a balance with needs and price.

Yes Jimmy, X5...I am more on sheer performance than on speed. But as you know, BMW's are what sheer performance are all about. Oh and speed! Wink These kind of cars (as you well know) if maintained properly will last a lifetime. German engineering; simply the best in the world!

Emphasis is mine, since I can't say it any better.

For those who love American cars, my condolences...

Dale - how did you go from an Eagle and an F-250 diesel to a PT Cruiser? As the songs says, "One of these things is not like the other!"

I notice alot of American branded cars among the conservatives here. Smile Well, as a liberal, I drive a BMW Z4 convertible. Prior to that, a BMW 325, a Chrysler Sebring and a Toyota Celica for my first car. The funny thing is that my bmws and toyota were all made in the US and a lot of the Chevies and Fords are assembled in either Mexico or Canada. In the case of my Sebring convertible, the engine was Japanese, the body was German and it was assembled in Mexico.

That purchase price isn't your primary consideration?

It wasn't exactly dear though, not least because the engine was stuffed.

Most recent US designs are just as reliable as comparable nonUS cars but MANY of the cars from the Asian companies have a larger US content than the cars fron the US companies. As for buying cars I give preference to US content but price vs features wins. I also have not borrowed money for a car (except for once when the loan interest was lower than the return on my investments) since my first car.

I don't buy American cars because they often suck. The only thing I like less than handouts to the poor is handouts to the wealthy (like American automakers). During the last few years the price of gas has skyrocketed and the US auto industry responded by revamping their muscle car lines, Mustangs, Chargers, Challengers, etc. Granted I wouldn't mind having a Mustang but it's kind of funny to me that that was their buisness plan when the price of gas doubled. Meanwhile the Europeans and Asians have been working on good quality vehicles with great gas mileage. So I drive a Subaru which has the mobility of an SUV and the gas mileage of a small (non-American) sedan. Thank God Boeing has smarter engineers...

Definately a ford... Probably a 8N, 1955 to 1959... Can't see the the PTO drive pump line because the skew of the pic... They switched from an external cast aluminum sump line to a built in hydraulic system in the late 50's, I believe...

Had a 56 myself.. Damn thing about killed me. No protection from the bush hog to the back of your head.

This one has definately been modified... That fancy cage is something only a farmer could love...lol.

What I have known from the day I purchased them is that all of our Fords are assembled in the USA. Our 1992 Mustang was assembled in Michigan, the 1997 Thunderbird was assembled in Ohio, and the 2007 F-150 was assembled in Norfolk, Virginia...

Buy American, keep Americans employed...and keep the money at home...and buy Ford. The only one of the Big 3 auto manufacturers that did not take a government handout to stay in business. Ford builds a good product and sells it at a good price...maybe that is the key.

Currently I have a 2000 Silverado 4X4 regular cab and a 1992 YJ Wrangler. You can bet when it comes time to replace the truck, my next will be a Ford. As for the Jeep, it will fall apart before I decide to replace it! Currently thinking of dropping a Ford 302 in it to replace the underpowered 4 banger.

Had a 94 YJ with a 2.5l 4 banger turned it into a crawler.
1. Put a throttle body spacer in.
2. Take off the old manifold and put a header on and an open muffler. OH THEY WILL HEAR YOU COMMING!
3. Trim unwanted sheet metal of so the tires wont rub. Had 33's with only a 5 inch lift.
4. Loose the back seat and spare tire holder and put the spare in the back. This will save weight.
5. Loose the Dana 35 rear and swap with a 44 and go to atleast 456 gears.

This will help that 4 banger and will surprise the people on the trail.I sold that one and wish I never had.
currently drive;
Wife, 2007 Nissan Pathfinder.
Me, 1967 Kaiser J3000 Jeep pu with the 327 it came with. Company car, 1999 VW beatle diesel 43 mpg if you drove it like you stole it.
Whole family are Republicans!

The loader and brackets reminded me a bit of contraptions I've seen on Fordson Majors but the front end looked a bit Fergie (BTW did you know that the Welsh for "tractor" is "fergie"?)
It looks to be in better nick than anything unrestored I've seen over here from that period though, they tend to get used as scraper tractors until they fall to bits.

Seawitch - I notice somebody has invested in a shiny new top-link, old one have an "accident" did it? Big Grin

Sorry for the confusion. The picture is not of our tractor, but one exactly like it. Ours isn't so pretty and shiny red, except for the parts we have replaced. Big Grin
