86 kids dead from H1N1. How many on here plan to forgo the H1N1 vaccination and play Russian Roulette with their kids' life?

I intend to get my children vaccinated. Hopefully it will be available soon.

Well, I can tell you that I recently went thru HELL with the H1N1 virus. It is the nastiest flu bug I ever got. I was given the tamaflu vaccine (in pill form) and my wife and three year old got the same. Within days my wife got it but, (knock on wood) my daughter was spared! So, HELL yeah, I'd get the shots coz, I'm a believer.

JMHO, I could be wrong...

It sure does, elesso. And the thing of it is, is that it is highly contagious! I recall coming down with on a Thursday evening; scratchy throat. The next morning, I went to work (not thinking I had the flu and am contagious). Came home that evening and felt really exhausted and bypassed dinner and went to bed. At 0200, I awoke with a 103 fever! Took bayer aspirin, went back to sleep. Awoke at 0500 with a fever of 101 and body aches! Wife took me, daughter to urgent care; I got swabbed and nurse came back with mask and told me to put it on! Dr. came in with results and said I had the H1N1 virus! Eek
Is that what you and your child went thru?

86? Out of how many million people? Is that a higher rate than another type of flu?

In this modern age we should have had the H1N1 vaccine out two months ago...and they would not be dead... what the hell happened to the great medical "for profit" system in place?

There have been dozens of deaths and neurological disorders as a result of this vaccine, so be careful in making your decision, especially with regards to your children. I still have flashbacks to the swine flu vaccine I received in the late 70's that almost took my life.

well i was sick with what i thought was the flu. sniffled and snorted for two days, and then everything got better. when maya got sick, i thought she caught it from me. but over the weekend we both started getting head aches, all our joints hurt, and the scratchy throat became a fire in there. then, sunnday we get a message from one of the 6th grade mothers saying her kid was diagnosed with the "piggy" flu. so monday maya and i went to the doc. we were swabbed and given masks too. Maya got an injection, but i was told that my flu shot should slow down the virus and to get rest and LOTS of water. actually...i feel really good today. headache is gone and so is fever. maya was better yesterday.

Everyone in my household got it a few weeks ago including my 3 year old son. Coughing up all over ourselves, diarrhea, pounding headache, sore muscles, you name it. It seemed to go away and then it came back and went away and came back. And I still have a dry cough over three weeks later.

Its a virulent little bugger.

I would like to see some proof of that.

That was the 70's vaccine - 25 people died from it. Even assuming it is the exact same vaccine as before, the fatality rate for unvaccinated people was ~1 in 1000, versus a rate of 1 in 1,000,000 who died from vaccine complications. By my reckoning, that makes the vaccine 1000x safer than getting the flu. I'll take that risk.

Thank God you are both alright now, Elleso and you to MFS. I heard 11 more kids (including teens) died this week, making a total of 86 or so young people dying of the H1N1 in the United states so far. I am worried about the kids most of all.
