It shouldn't be a situation of who we can blame, it should be that those who we elect to represent us.....damn sure REPRESENT us. If they don't then they should be recalled and held accountable. Instead we sit back, make jokes, shake our heads, rant, rave and complain....and then go out at election time and vote for the same damn losers. When are the American people going to wake up and see that this current bunch of charlatans are taking us nowhere but down?

I was joking, hence the Big Grin that said, I don't believe any of them represent 70% of my beliefs so until I can find a party that does, I will stay Independent.

Todays politics remind me of an old saying. - "Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas?" - Joseph Stalin

Nice to meet someone so full of himself (or something anyway) that he sttes that anyone that disagree with him and with those he supports doesn't "give a damn about the Us". IMO such a statement PROVES you don't give a damn about the US just about your party.

Really stingin' after that one. Don't care if you agree with me or not. You really like this guy huh? Don't care of your opinion of me, you showed where your opionion lies. Personally I think you'd vote for a horse if it was a left winger. So tell me, what is there about 'Ol Franken you like (other than the SNL clips)

Well, unlike Coleman he is actually FROM Minnesota. He graduated cum laude from Harvard, wrote several best selling books, hosted his own radio show AND he is still married to his FIRST wife.

I look forward to the day that his famous wit comes out on the floor of the Senate. He is smart AND funny...a deadly combination.

Well, there IS that...but he DID say that he is going to Washington, not to be the 60th vote, but to speak for ALL Minnesotans. Glad it is finally over and MN gets the representation it is entitled to.

I hear some R s pushing a comedian for President--

quote:
All last week News Talk KSGF had 3 ways for you to win tickets to see the Glenn Beck Common Sense Comedy Tour at the Hollywood 14 Theatre at College Station in Springfield.

Well, Glenn Beck was generous to give News Talk KSGF extra tickets!! We now have tickets to give away to the encore performance on June 11th at 7pm.

Be listening to Vincent David Jericho from 6-9am (weekdays) and Randy Raley at 5pm (weekdays) for the Beck Cue to Call!! When you hear it be the 7th caller to 447-KSGF and you are our winner!

Can anyone really be that upset about another funny guy in the Capitol? I laugh at the antics there every day, ferchrissakes...

Maybe too much Colbert...

Now go a-way or I shall taunt you a second time!

"Entitled to" is an extremely accurate statement.

To count Arlen Specter and Joe Lieberman among a filibuster-proof majority is a great setup for disappointment, Prog.

That's true, but as you well know, getting all 60 votes to count for anything would mean getting 60 politicians to agree on anything. Some don’t see Franken as the do all and be all for the Democrats.
quote:

The Democrats have 60 votes in the Senate! Hooray! Now we get health care and climate control and bullet trains and all the wars will end! Except that this doesn't really change anything!
Because the leader of the Democrats is still Mr. Harry Reid, a useless, spineless Democrat who does not actually care about passing liberal legislation, at all. And the most powerful Democrats in the Senate are, of course, the "centrists" who refuse to support any bill until whatever the Republicans want done to it is done to it (that is centrism!). And two Senators are near-death and hence not able to vote for anything.
Here is Harry Reid's press secretary:
"While this is, of course, good news to the people of Minnesota, President Obama, and the Senate Democratic, Franken's mere presence alone will not mean that the Democrats will be able to jam through our agenda, or make it any less critical for Democrats and Republicans to work together."
Well, it is not actually critical, anymore, to get Republicans to "work together" with Democrats. It is actually only critical for Majority Leader Harry Reid to get Democrats to actually vote with Democrats.

We just may have to wait and see if the majority party is capable of actually working together. If they can't then we will have a recap of the early Clinton presidency and we know how that played out in the end.

Lots of parallels, but one missing link:
Hillary Clinton like fingernails on a chalkboard trying to change the job description of the First Lady.

Off-topic, but high marks from me to Michelle Obama for being the First Mom first. Knock what you like about the President's policies, but I see a solid American family in the White House these days.

That matters.

Well Yooper, I'm not going off a negative tinge at least for right now. Even though the 60 vote count is largely symbolic, it is at the very least worth honorable mention. I hear what you're saying, I just wanted to savor the moment, for what it's worth......... Cool

Yes JDK, we will have to wait and see. But like I told Yooper, I just wanted to savor and celebrate the moment. As to the future, I would prefer to remain cautiously optimistic....... Popcorn

I, for one, welcome Senator Franken--but then again, I'm also known to be an evil SOB who laughs when some unsuspecting fool forces his way into an ambush kill zone any sane person would go out of his way to avoid. Senator Franken, meet Mr. Darwin--while you two are chatting and he ties a noose (for himself, not you, you charming and witty conversationalist), the rest of us will quietly (or not so quietly) be laughing at you. You won't be as funny as Mr. Biden, but you could still surprise us. Waiter! Another Victory Gin, please...!
