Earlier this week, it was over 70 degrees here. Then, we had a round of violent thunderstorms and heavy rain, which turned into 4 inches of snow overnight. Then, it got warm again yesterday and the snow melted. Now, here it comes again: 4 inches or more forecast today and tonight, then back into the 60's by Sunday.

Kit, I used to travel for a living and when I'd watch the news and weather in my motel room I could always tell what my weekend weather was going to be. If TX got crapped on Mon or Tues, SC was going to get the same thing by the weekend.

Bolling, I read a fiction book once about a guy who always seemed to be stationed in extreme cold places. He said when he retired he was gonna build a house on the equator and put in steam heat. When the temp fell below 100 he was gonna turn on the heat.

BTDT, thanks. I used to spend a lot of time in Michigan, usually in the winter, and learned to hate it (the weather, not the state).

The heaviest snowflakes I ever saw were falling between Grand Rapids and Muskegon one night. In my headlights, they looked about the size of dinner plates and must have weighed 10lbs apiece as they hit the windshield with a loud "flop."

Man...I wondered if I'd get to Muskegon alive! My biggest fear was sliding off the road and having to get out of the truck. I was afraid a flake would hit me in the head and knock me out. Big Grin

Snowing in Dixie ain't nothin new. Redstone Arsenal, 12/62, I was listening to a Cleveland, OH, AM radio station (KYW 1100). The whole bay, including NATO Germans, heard the snow prediction and I had a crowd around until a station ID played. It did snow 1/2 inch in Huntsville and it closed the whole base down. LMAO.

Still snowing here. We have 3-4 inches right now. The temp is right above freezing so I guess it will freeze over tonight with ice beneath it. It is a winterwonderland outside! I don't remember it ever snowing in March (in Texas), do you?

Hope you are not buried in the snow, Kit. It took me an hour and 45 min to get home today (normal 20 minutes). Late start tomorrow.

By Monday it'll be spring!

Yes, I can remember snow in March before.

Right now, it's still coming down and we already have 6 of the 4 inches predicted in the yard! Big Grin

Meechigan aint got nothin on Ohio. Especially Northern Ohio. We get the normal snows, then get the double whammy when it comes accross lake erie and picks up more moisture. 4 inches of light snow in Canada turns into 12 inches of crap when it dumps on us. They call it 'lake effect snow' and those hit hardest every year are in the 'snow belt' of Ohio.

You're joking, right? Upper Michigan (Da Yoop) is smack-dab betwixt the two largest of the Great Lakes; You've no clue what Lake-effect snow is!

Back in 1992, on May 10, fer Crisssakes, we got nearly three feet of Lake-effect in a 24-hour period and ended up snow-bound for three days because the plows were afraid of damaging the roads during "break-up!"

I ended up hand shoveling nearly a quarter mile's worth of road and lemme tell ya bub, that thar was some heavy shait!

Oregon and England. Different terrain, same weather. Had a fiance from Oregon once. Had to visit her. Decided i would never live there. We are obviously no longer engaged. Cool

KJ--You come here for a winter, and i'll go up there. I'm thinking they may not be much different. Supposed to get 18 inches by saturday here. Can't wait until spring. Wink

Here in New Jersey it can't make up it's damn mind. It will be 25 degrees one day and 55 the next. Then we'll have a 55 degree day and get 4 inches of snow the next. Everyone is keeping a cold. We're getting rain right now.

Better keep an eye on that 2 inches. That's what they said here yesterday: 2-4 inches. We got 6-8. Big Grin
