Eddie Albert was in the Navy in WWII, commanded a boat bringing troops and supplies to the shore on the island campaigns. From what I remember on History Channel, he saw some significant action.

Maybe it was the script of the offending movie???

With out a doubt. Maybe he was a better actor than I gave him credit for. He stero typed himself as a coward every time I saw him after that role as a coward.

The absolute worst job of an actor playing a military person was George Bush in Mission Accomplished

Tom Cruise.

Have seen "TOP GUN". Only real actors in that film were the aircraft.

I've seen a LOT of AF Movies...

A LOT of them portray the aircraft badly.

Especially, and I forgot the name of the movie, was one that had a C-5 in it.

Not really an actor, but definitely badly played in the movie. LOL

Dale Dye, Capt. USMC (Ret.) - LDO. Great guy -- met him in Okinawa when he was still a W.O. doing newscasts. He's done cameos in everything from Band of Brothers to Saving Private Ryan and war flicks in between. He looks the part anyway...

One of the better former real military vets turned actor...Scott Glenn...former Marine recon who had great appearances in Urban Cowboy and The Hunt for Red October.

As much as people (rightly) bash the Iron Eagle movies, as an 80's child, those movies probably did as much to steer me toward the military as anything. Don't get me wrong, I saw one recently and it was horrible. But to this day when I hear 'Gimme Some Lovin' or 'We're Not Gonna Take It' I picture bombs dropping on some generic mideast airbase.

For clarity...

Because this thread is about the WORST, are you claiming that Dale Dye is worse than Charley Sheen, Sean Penn, Martin Sheen, John Travolta, etc? Confused

Gary Busey

Michael J Fox in the same movie with Sean Penn.

I wonder when they get advisors why they do it, if they dont listen to them..

LIKE Saving Private Ryan, they had actual Vets that helped and they listened to them at least from the few WWII vets I watched it with, they were all like yeah, that was it..

I like war movies, so I tend to give alot of leeway for bad acting if the story is good.

Martin Sheen... when he played a SR NCO (MSG if I remember) that was in charge of a stockade - his son Charlie was in the movie with him... long hair and gut to match.

One of my top 10 favorites is Robert Duval as LTC "Wild Bill" Kilgore (the goofy mother fu--er) "first of the ninth air cav, son"

ATTACK" with Palance, Albert, Lee Marvin, Buddy Ebsen, Robert Strauss, and someone who made a career of Playing Soldiers: Richard Jaeckel

That film was on the telly not too long ago - the French village buildings looked like they were straight out of the middle ages - and the Germans wore great coats and pristine helmets that looked as if they'd just come brand new from a fitting at the regimental tailor shop.

On the acting side - Eddie Albert gave a great performance as the cowardly CO and Jack Palance was also on good form.

He's in the background here.

His name is George Dzunda....good character actor but you're right, 350 is a little steep.

George Dzunda was great in The Beast. Wasn't 350lbs in that movie.

Yea I agree, not much of an actor.

My worst is Brian Bosworth (ex football player), played a Gunnery Sargent in One Tough Bastard

Jake Gyllenhaal as a Marine in Jarhead after doing Brokeback Mountain?

Sorry... But after seeing him and Heath in Brokeback, I found it kind of ironic that he would play a Marine, a Marine Sniper no less, a couple of movies afterwards.

I'm sure what I just said will stir up a debate and a half.
