So? There's a chain of exercise parlors called "Curves" which not only refuses to sign up men, they won't even let us in the door. (I know because I spotted all those babes going in and tried.) They cater to women and women ONLY.

Is that a threat to us too?

This is ridiculous. Stillkit they make it quite clear this is based on religion in the article. Islam, gotta friggin love it.

Pretty ridiculous giving people special privileges because of religious reasons.
At my last job when the whole crew had to work mandatory overtime on saturdays one guy didn't have to because he was 7th day adventist.
Here in Orygun they have even gone so far as to completely change the format of one class of high school basketball playoffs because one of the schools is 7th day adventist and they will not play on saturdays. Note that I said "play" when in the 7th day "rules" they are not supposed to "work" during those hours. Pretty F'n pathetic.....

If you READ the link/post, you'll notice that the issue was brought by Muslim women, but the solution is not limited to Muslim women - ANY women can attend during those massively restrictive SIX hours per week that are now for women only, regardless of religion. Gosh, that really cuts into the male only/coed hours, huh?

Jeez. Get a grip.

Ahhhhh, why not let them have a place of their own. No one wants to workout with them anyway.

It started a while back when we changed the rules to accommodate the Muslims not having to follow the rules like everyone else because of their 'special' religious status.

So, it's OK with you that Muslims are starting to request/demand that they have special privilages? Sorry, but it bothers me, an American who dislikes any religion asking for special crap or any group asking for special crap.

I see this as just a needle in the haystack that is coming form the Muslims in this country.

kit--this is a college. This isn't a private gym and therefore all students should have access to the gym during all open hours--plain and simple.

What's next---left handed short people wanting their own hours?

As some know, this was posted on ITN http://forums.military.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/672198221/m/5960067171001/p/1 and it was the first time I ever heard of women(in general) having their own hours at the gym.

No, it's not OK that any group demands special privileges ... but this was a request, not a demand. No different than a hundred other other requests from women for separate hours/facilities from men when it comes to working out. There are many studies suggestimg and supporting separate classes in schools and sessions in gyms/spas are beneficial for BOTH sexes.

If Harvard had responded with separate hours for Muslim women ONLY, I'd be in agreement with you - but it didn't. Harvard set aside the hours for women - of all types - not just Muslim women.

Ok, so after their daughters of islam only hours, post a sign that says no cameltoes allowed!

Is the football field open to anyone during practice? Is a class open to anyone who hasn't signed up for it? Can a non-Catholic walk right into the Chapel at Notre Dame and take part in the Sacraments? Can a Jew take communion at the Baptist Student Union on campus?

I'd like to present a different spin on this situation, please. Regardless of religion, some women value physical modesty. They want to work out in circumstances where they don't have to worry about whether men are trying to look down their shirts.

Maybe, just maybe, they also don't want to hear or smell men's farts in the weight room.

Under these circumstances, is there really anything wrong with "women only" hours?

Men, if you had a choice about where your wives, mothers or daughters could work out, would you prefer mandatory coed hours or "women only" choices?

I'm sure in due time if Muslims start taking over this country there will be those Americans who will start burning, raping, and killing Muslims just like the radical Muslims have been doing for hundreds of years now around the world. Sooner or later religion will kill us all.

WHAT? Do men's farts smell worse then women's farts?

The Point is--plain and simple--this request was made by six Muslim women and it became a done deal--this has nothing to do with Harvasrd women, as a whole, asking this be done.

For those that want to sit here and post crap that this has nothing to do with the requesters being Muslim women, I have beach front property to sell you in Tenn.

It is just amazing to see those of you who will say anything to justify the fact that the school bent over to give six Muslim women their request, but knowing the crap they would face, made it for all women.
