Stranger, if you go to the land of the Spartans, tell them we lie here obedient to their laws. Do not forget us, for then we will truly have died.

A Memorial for my cousin: Jack Richard Sanborn U.S. Army SP4 medic 101st Airborne Division.
Killed in action 25July1968 Hua Nghia, South Vietnam. May he rest in peace with all his brothers in arms. May God be with those who suffer the ill effects of that war. I thank all who have served for my freedom.

I want to remember 1st SGT Philip Verley, wounded in a night op. with Echo Recon. 1/52, 198th Bde in 1971. He returned to duty after 27 sugeries and over 120 units of blood. He spent 30 years in the Army and retired after Desert Storm.

He died of Hepatitis-C on 22 Aug 2006.

It was contracted from one of the transfusions he received after he was wounded.

This man died for his country just as surely as if the bullet had killed him the night of the op.

Rest in Peace Phil. You are a HERO!

I remember you and recall you without effort, without exercise of will; that is, by natural impulse, indicated by a sense of duty, or of obligation. And that, I take it, is the only sort of remembering worth the having.
When we think of friends, and call their faces out of the shadows, and their voices out of the echoes that faint along the corridors of memory, and do it without knowing why save that we love to do it, we content ourselves that friendship is a Reality, and not a Fancy --
That it is built upon a rock, and not upon the sands that dissolve away with the ebbing tides and carry their monuments with them.
Samuel Clemens
