What is going on at Bragg? It seems like these things happen one after the other there.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police in North Carolina are searching for a missing female soldier after a suspicious fire burned through her apartment near Fort Bragg.

Fayetteville Police Capt. David Houp says the Thursday morning blaze is being investigated as an arson.

The soldier was not identified by authorities. They said she was assigned to the medical center at the army post that is home to the 82nd Airborne Division.

The fire comes three weeks after the body of another female soldier from the same post was discovered in a motel. The pregnant soldier had been missing several days.

Police say the cases don't appear to be linked

Uh, bought, the first case was a Marine sergeant out of Camp Lejeune, not Bragg. Not that two murders isn't bad enough, but no need to make it worse.

The murder rate in Fayetteville isn't insignificant ... military or civilian ...

It would appear that there is something about that area that is hazardous to people's health.

First, I thought thayt maybe it is related to the types of units that are concentrated there. But I'm not sure that is the cause/reason. I do hope that someone in that area, or someone interested in that area, will develop a hypothesis concerning this phenomenon and that they can get the right people interested enough in it to investigate.

We truly do live in a fallen world. People who take another's life, for reasons other than self-defense, have a screw loose. When convicted, they should never be allowed to harm another living thing, human or animal.

These are my opinions. Yours may differ.

I have a cousin that has been married at least 10 times that I know of. I asked her son once how many times, at the time he said 10, this was back around '82 or so, and even he wasn't sure.

We are in an upsurge of family violence - some of it related to PTSD and the GWOT, and some of it because it can be blamed on PTSD and GWOT - and get sympathy for the perpetrator who is just an animal.

Fayetteville is the home of Fort Bragg and Pope AFB. Last time I checked there were about 30-40,000 troops. Home of the Airborne and SF. Always has been a rough place to work and play in. Back in the 60's one or two were killed each month. If this Soldier was killed I hope they catch the POS that did it and give him the hot seat.

Back in the day, it wasn't called Fayette-Nam (or Fatalburg) for nothing. It seems some things haven't changed a lot in the past forty years - the last time I lived on Bragg.

~Cider- It's ok..I didn't know what you were talking about anywayBig Grin

Stalking case, divorce
The Wimuncs are going through a divorce, according to police.

Court papers show that on May 19, Wimunc filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband, 23-year-old John Patrick Wimunc, a Marine based at Camp Lejeune. Thursday was John Wimunc’s birthday.

Late last year, she also got a court order against an Illinois woman whom she accused of stalking her online and by telephone.

In the domestic violence complaint, Holley Wimunc said that on May 17 John got intoxicated and held a loaded handgun to her head and his own head. She said they struggled and he choked her and threw her around their living room. He also wrote his initials on a bullet, she said, and had told his mother he planned to hurt himself.

Chief District Court Judge Beth Keever issued a temporary restraining order on John Wimunc, barring him from further contact with Holley Wimunc. The order expired May28. The case was dismissed when John Wimunc appeared in court to face the complaint, but Holley never showed up.

In the stalking case, Holley Wimunc on Oct. 29 accused Lindsay Hunter of Avon, Ill., of harassing her. On Nov. 19, Keever ordered Hunter to leave Wimunc alone

I thought fraternisation was against regs. If she was an officer and he an enlisted, they must have been married before joining.

It may not apply if they are in different branches of the military or she could have been an enlisted then applied for OCS.

Read these predictions published in May 2007. Look at prediction #20.
