I have an injured wrist so ive been at the computer all day for the past few weeks, which is why i have been writing so much. After hearing (and protesting)the president of Iran's speech i got to thinking about a what if question. Now remember this is just a what if question, kind of a therory i have. I hope this sparks a lively yet PEACEFUL debate. Here we go.......
What if Hillary gets elected and the first thing she does as the first female president is pull all American forces from Iraq?
Now heres what I think would happen. Iran has never really been a friend of Iraq and is activly trying to see the downfall of the new government there. Considering that Iran and Iraq are still at war with one another, whats to stop the Iranian army from rolling into Baghdad quicker than we did? Nothing. The oil reserves there would obviously help Tehran and help fund there quest for nuclear weapons.
Now this would put Hillary into quite a predicament. The world would call on us to fix the problem we started and expel Iran from the country. However the majority of americans would want us to stay home and watch from the safety of our couches. Remember the shiite are the majority there just as in Iran. I dont think they would have much of a problem with a shiite government.
I think that Iran would not need to invade as they already have significant control of the newly elected iraqi government. all they would have to do is the same thing they have done in Lebanon and support a group with military training/funding/arming from within so that group gained power and within a couple of years they would control Iraq by proxy.
And they need not do anything that might signal alarms at the UN like invade.. And of course old Hillary would have nothing to use to stop it but spend money on CIA like operations and opoosition groups.
Why not invade? Who over there could stop them. Isreal maybe but thats it. Iraq befor the first gulf war had the....7th biggest army...I think? Now there pretty much last.

Why not invade? Because it might just give someone the excuess they need to cease those oil fields and spoil the Iranian plan. Doing it the other way would be more effective, cost less, and be hard to combat by outsiders such as Russia, Britain, the US, China, Al Quida, Other terrorist groups, Turkey, Saudi, etc..
You seem to forget that the vast majority of Iraqis are Shiite. And the last elections were a wild success for the pro-Iranian parties and candidates. Invading only stands to lose you any support you may have had to start with..

I'm up in the air on that one. I'm not a military nor a diplomatic strategist and as such don't have much of an opinion. I want us to do what is needed to win and to prevent Iran and Al Quida from winning. Whatever that happens to be is good with me.
