Should Congress make it mandatory for Guards and Reserves Soldiers to deploy overseas? I know alot of soldiers never deployed yet, and most of them my friends who been dodging using excuses and transferring to other units. They are wearing the uniform just like everyone else and enjoying the benefits others earned. It bothers me when my so-called friends have their chest stuck out and taking credit for something they didn't do.
I would tell you to not concern yourself about those that play the system to get the benefits . . .
Eventually, the "goes around, comes around" bites the "players."
You're not the only one in your unit that sees the trend. When promotion time, awards formations, promotion boards, etc..., come around, it will be, majority of the time, those that earned it that are on the receiving end.
You continue to soldier, stand on the "Moral Highground," be there for your "real" buddies, the ones on your left and right that will be there always...That's what matters the most, at least for this old grunt.
