Liberals Hate NASCAR Jack Ward As I prepared to watch the NASCAR race at the California Speedway in Fontana California, a few weeks ago, I was amazed at the crowd. There was a heat wave that had blistered the Southern California area. Most fans had already braved several hours of 115 degree heat and were eagerly waiting to watch a four hour race. What kind of people are these NASCAR fans? I’ve concluded that regardless of political registration, NASCAR fans are fairly conservative. For example: A typical NASCAR race begins with an invocation. A selected individual offers a non-denominational prayer and asks God to protect the participants and fans. Secular Liberals wouldn’t think of starting an event with a prayer. They would suggest that there should be a separation of church and racing. After the invocation, an Honor Guard marches in to present the American Flag. Liberals see the American Flag as an oppressive symbol and would prefer to see the Honor Guard march across the flag rather than carry it. Once the colors are presented, a guest sings the National Anthem. Liberals loathe the Anthem and view it as a song of blind patriotism. As the anthem ends and the crowd cheers as military aircraft fly over the race track. Rather than view these magnificent machines as symbols of freedom, Liberals view the military as a means to oppress people. The Grand Marshall then steps to the microphone and gives the command to start engines. Immediately, 43 race cars thunder to life. Ignoring the Global Warming myth, these gas guzzling 800 horsepower race cars thunder around the course at speeds of up to 200 miles an hour. Liberals would prefer a 55 MPH limit. They would also be fretting about the ‘carbon footprint’ that the race cars emit and wondering if any of the car owners had purchased ‘emission credits’. Of course Liberals would prefer that the cars were eco-friendly hybrids. As the race progresses the fans cheer the action. At the end of the race the checkered flag waves and the fans cheer for the winner. Liberals abhor competition that creates winners and losers. Liberals even want to ban dodge ball to prevent the loser from suffering the loss of self-esteem. Conservatives admire the engineering expertise, the driver’s ability, and the thrill of competition – Liberals dismiss all of these attributes. From the invocation, presentation of the colors, singing the National Anthem, celebrating the military fly over, to the conclusion of the race; there is a great divide between Conservative and Liberals. Therefore, it was easy for me to conclude that regardless of political registration, NASCAR fans are fairly conservative. |

Warned for posting obscenities. 40 days warning. This is your second warning since April. 3 Sept. 08 USAF_76 |
liberals just don't know how to go fast, because in their perfect world, nothing is that fast.
I don't give a damn, if you can make that much money, going around and around, and still enjoy what you do, and still respect and salute the Armed forces of my Country, you go boys! How many sports avenues, still give the all out for the Military? |

Well thank you. I'm just an *** for liking Nascar, and thank-you for putting me in my place. It's a damn good time when I do come here, Mil. com., and have the last laugh.

Yep, pretty much sums it up.
A lot of people agree, "I would dearly love for the Democrats to spend millions of dollars trying to persuade NASCAR fans to vote for the Democrats," Ayres chirped last summer. "They tend to be disproportionately southern, disproportionately white and disproportionately male, which pretty well defines the core of the Republican Party." In other words, it's a waste of time and resources for the Democrats to pursue them -- a classic sucker's bet." So long, white boy. |

Most of the folks I grew up with liked horse racing.
My brother and I love drag racing, we would go every weekend to Ohio Valley Raceway to watch 'em. I loved the funny cars. "Never try to teach a pig to sing; It wastes your time and annoys the pig." - Heinlein |

Yep, I saw that article. Trouble is, a lot more of those guys are less and less happy with the Republican party leadership. Like I have said before, I grew up in a staunch Republican household surrounded by a strong Democratic community. My old pop is a stone cold Goldwater conservative. He surprised the hell out of me when he refused to register as a Republican for the first time in his life and put down Independent on his registration card when he moved back up home this summer. He and I, as well as most of the other members of my family all over the US agree: The Republican party left us, we didn't leave them. A pat phrase, but it speaks volumes when old guard Republicans I know cuss the current administration and its leaders worse than they ever cussed LBJ. NASCAR's nothing but a modern, gladiator-style blood sport. All them good ol' boys swilling all-American, beer-flavored water, allowing their patriotism to be used as a marketing gimmick, and hoping for a fiery crash so they can claim their drivers as heroes. NASCAR fans actually make liberalism sound sensible.

''Dance like no one is watching" |
The fam and I went to a car race last month b/c it was free to the military. It was only minutes from our house, and since they had free food as well, we went.
Never did I expect it to be so LOUD!! We weren't even sitting close and all the dirt/dust kept flying in our cheese fries. Within 5 minutes it looked like someone had sprayed paprika all over our food. Hubby liked it... not my cup of tea. We didn't even last an hr C'mon kids..time to go "It is the weak who are cruel. I like to fight fire... with gasoline... ![]() |
I come from a racing family. My Dad raced, my uncle races Formula V (Vintage) and they (along with my partner and son) go to Laguna Seca twice a year. NASCAR isn't his favorite, but he will watch Tonka trucks race.
Oh, were we supposed to be all indignant or something? Is the OP implying that NASCAR is too AMERICAN for “liberals” so they must hate it as result? Liberals can’t possible be religious or join the military or appreciate the National Anthem or enjoy watching military jets fly overhead? Liberals Hate NASCAR? Okay, I’ll play…Conservatives hate Apple Pie… |
