Go to youtube.com and type in School kids taught to praise Obama.

It's going to far, indoctination of grade school kids as this video shows is history repeating itself.

I wonder if these kids even know what the Pledge of Alliegence is????

Why not look up the youtube videos from 1776, 1812, 1846, 1861, 1898, 1914, 1942, 1952, 1968, 1991, 2001, or 2003?

Oh, there were no youtube videos during all those years? I wonder what school children learned about Lincoln during the Civil War? What about during WW2 where FDR was treated like a God? Obama is the first President in history that has to deal with the full onslaught of 24/7 cable news, youtube, facebook, and everyplace else where silly issues get elevated to the status of scandals. Guess what we've learned here....in a country of 300 million, children someplace, somewhere, are singing about the American President in a play.

I'm sure at some point, during all those years since 1776, other school children somewhere in America were being taught to praise the American President. Sorry you can't "think" of any other Presidents.

I attended school and we did have a photo of the president at the time but nothing of this sort was forced upon us but!!!! we did say the Pledge of Alliegence every morning. Big difference in my book and my....learning. Wink

as for dealing with the media 24/7.......he's lapping up the media time and people are getting sick of him being on TV everytime they turn around. It's news, even among the dumbO party that he's becoming too visible and they are right. He's hanging himself. Wink

The only thing that Lincoln and Obama have in common is that they both came from Illinois when elected. One big difference is, one tried to hold the union together, the other is trying to tear it apart. I've never seen such a divide in this country in all my years.

Well, there are still enough people around from the FDR time period that at least something would've been said about them being propagandized in school. From relatives, I;ve learned that it was all about the war effort and supporting the troops, because just about everyone was touched by the war in one way or another...but I never heard about children singing songs about FDR in school. So....you're sure, you're sure that somewhere in America, since 1776, that children were taught to sing praises to a sitting President of the United States? You're sure? I don't think so...and I don't think that President Obama is the first President to have to deal(I know, he hates the attention...) with the onslaught of the 24/7 news cycle, youtube, facebook....yeah, all of that just came about last January 20th....amazing.

We can only hope that Obama doesn’t succeed in tearing the country apart like Lincoln did.

When I was in Catholic school back in the day...we literally worshiped Reagan (along with the Pope I guess) as if he was this beacon in the night or something like that...good ole' St.Ronnie. When I was in public high school, the school encouraged students to go to President Bush's (Sr.) inauguration, they even supplied the school bus and pro-Bush signs (and a day off from school that didn't affect your attendance record). They did not do the same when Clinton was inaugurated when my brother was a senior.

So what is your point?

The only thing I can attest to is that my grandmother was born in 1911, she was a teacher. She never told us about anything such as this. My dad graduated 1956, my mom 1957, they just missed the L.R. "Crisis" at Central High though my aunt and uncle graduated that year (1958.) They never said anything about anything like this (and when asked said NO.) I graduated in 1979 and for the life of me I can't remember anything like this in school and I've been to MANY. Neither can my husband who was a military brat and can't remember anything such as this. We have 6 kids between us and none of them can remember. The only one left in school is my youngest who is a senior this year and he said.. " hmmmm.. NOPE."

So prior to 1918, I can't say for sure.

Prevent slavery? Slavery had iron clad protection of the US Constitution. Read it sometime.

SGT Williams, rest asured that the children of EP and Gadsen S.D. know their pledges both U.S. and state, plus stand for a moment of silience.
I asked a high school student if she heard the President speak on the 8th, "No" she said," The TVs don't work."

He only prevented slavery (to continue) by winning over the south.

Sorry for my lapse in judgment. Figured everyone could put two and two together. But however it is totally my fault. I accept full responsibility for leaving out the words to continue.

ALL
1. During the WW2 years, public schools DID honor, daily, the flag, the Pledge and DID have Civics classes.
2. During the WW2 years the public school curriculum was about WINNING THE WAR, with daily updates of battles, strategy and home town news of folks at the FRONT.
(I can verify this, as I was there, in the most Liberal state at the time, Michigan.)
3. During the period 1950-2001, a span of some 50 years the denigration of ALL of the above has taken place. The USA was taught as the Ugly American, and all the worlds ills were due to our consumer materialism.
bt
OBNA is the culmination of those years. We reap what we sow, and far more than we knew would be the crop.
For those of you youngsters, berating the details, get your heads up and out...
We are fast losing the battle for our freedoms.
Education of ALL the youth, at ALL ages is the key to success for any POLITICAL AGENDA.
bt
We lost the edge in the 60s and if it were not for the Old Geezers memories, we still would not be "Getting It"
end

I say we look at the actual message the kids are learning in this video. What is the context and content?

Looks to me like these kids are learning the President of the United States is a role model. Tthat you can come from nothing, and still grow up to be President. That you don't need a family with enormous wealth to get you into Harvard, Yale, and politics.

Damn these teachers for using the President as a role model. Rather than work to become President of the Harvard Law Review, Obama should have worked at getting a cool nickname like George W. Bush's "Gin and Tonic".

Role model....yeah....right. I just was the video with subtitles, this isn't a "role model" type of rap...
If that's all there is to it, then why won't the school that's located in NJ, comment on this issue?

Do you ever get the feeling that the less - shall we say - colorful "debaters" here on P/CP simply read the first sentence then skip to the last sentence (assume the middle) and then fire off the first bee bee sized, knee jerk reaction that tumbles out of the old tuna fish can?
