Take it from me; it's all about the resume! Wording is everything, keep in mind the civilian world DOES NOT know military terminology or acronyms. Do your best to find the civilian translation for your skills. Once you have impressed an employer with your resume your half way there. The next half seals the deal, the interview! The only thing I can say is PRACTIC, PRACTICE, and PRACTICE. Apply for a few jobs that you really don’t care for just for the interviewing experience. It’s sort of like doing a mock board before going in front of the CSM for a promotion board. It helps you shake off the stage fright and gives you a rough idea of what to expect. I got out of the Army as a SSG and had just made the promotion list for SFC. I had about 9 interviews before I landed a job with my current employer. During my first interview I froze. I didn’t know what kind of questions they were going to ask. By my third and fourth interviews I realized they were all asking the same questions more or less. My last 5 interviews were all job offers If you are interviewing in a certain field such as I was 25B, most of the questions will start to repeat themselves. The more interviews you accept the more intelligent you sound to the employer. Once again PRACTICE! You will be amazed at where you could end up. My current employer is MICRSOFT.
