K, so I might as well go ahead and wing this one out there...seeing as how I can't find the answer elsewhere, if it even exists.

I know in the Q&A awhile back it was stated that "due to the PS/ME merger, there will be no reduction in paygrade"...

Sooooo does that mean the same applies to active duty folks? Or is it going to be dependent largely on LE experience. Hypothetical example, an E-6 wants to lateral but has no CG LE experience and little "civilian" experience. Does that person run the risk of be "demoted" if they submit a package and somehow get accepted, but at an E-4 or E-5 level? AND, if that were to happen, can that member basically say, "No thanks, I'd rather stay an E-6 in my legacy rate..."

Just thoughts that I can't seem to get answers to elsewhere...opinions and insight are appriciated.

Yes the idea behind a "lateral" is that members chosen will lateral in the current paygrade, only the member's designator will change.
I'm pretty sure once you turn in that signed lateral package with the box checked "I respectfully request a lateral to ME" (or something like that) you dont really have a choice to take it back, if they select you, you are going.

Dave - pretty close. Check the references, but last time I looked it was the day the board meets, your request is final. The day before, you can change your mind.

And yes - the will only take people at current grade.

Now, again, you all have to read everything else too. The message clearly give a time line when every member will be expected to be up to speed. If you are excepted as an ME1, that doesn't mean they can not hold you accountable at some point for your ME3, ME2 and ME1 EPQs. You will have to learn them and at the time noted in the references, you CAN BE put on performance probation if you do not get them done. I say this becuase their are MANY JRR affected folks who still believe they only need to do their legacy rating stuff. (One by one I am getting them jobs at WALMART!!)
