Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

ALCOASTs 409, 410, & 411 are out for MLES Warrant Specialty, AD & Reserve ME Advancements for 2010 and beyond.

They haven't hit the Internet Msg Board yet, so you'll have to view them in CGMS until they do. Good luck to anyone looking to lateral.

I'm very happy to see the progress the USCG is making towards the ME career.

I ran into work to read it as soon as I read it was out on the thread. All it says is refer to Personnel manual ch.5C and Training/Ed manual ch.2.A.2. Haven't looked at the Training/Ed yet, but I looked at the exact section of the personnel manual before, and it was basically not much help.

What kind of help are you looking for?

Master Chief, it is good to hear from you. We miss you down here at MSU Galveston. I am sure the Manta misses you as well. I am just trying to figure out the "exact procedure" to lateral over. Our BMC believes it to be done through direct-access.

CGBM2,

There should be a message coming out sometime soon much similar to ALCOAST 078/07 (lateral process for IS). This is basically a step-by-step explanation of everything you need to do/include in your package to lateral. Hope this helps.

Yes it does, and i appreciate it very much. Some of us around my unit were thinking that was "The Message" that was suppose to explain how, so we were a bit stumped.

There will be a message coming out in May that will outline the advancement process for the ME rating.

That above is from the PSC website, and is pretty much what the message released is about, so I guess if a message is out that was projected in May, then things might be running a little behind. After all, I am sure creating a whole new rating, especially one dealing with LE takes a lof of work, and we should see the message on instructions for lateral shortly. It is all startin to become "clear as mud" to me now.

The Advancement/CWO/A-School MSGs is one of the two things that were supposed to be complete before the lateral solicitation MSG was released. The other is the Billet Map.

I think the billet map is taking longer than anyone anticipated, but I don't think it will hold up the Lateral MSG. I wouldn't worry too much. You'll have plenty of time to make an informed decision and put your lateral request in.

Keep an eye on the MSG board this week. Fingers crossed.
