Take your name off of the A-school list you are on now and wait for the ME A-school to begin. Otherwise, you are rolling the dice. If LE is your "true passion", why settle for something else? my $0.02

also - don't think that striking will make the process any easier. If you obtain your rating through a striker program, you would not have the trainign commitment you agree to through the A-School, but both the RFMC and AO for that rating still have to agree to loose you.

The ME Rating Force Manager gave a presentation today and he stated that there will be 4 ME 'A' classes next year and 8 classes the following year. First one in FEB 2010. There will only be 24 active duty 'A' school spots the first year. The rest will be for reservist. They still don't know exactly how long the school will be. I see the 'A' school list and projected wait being very long. Let's not forget that current policy is to close an 'A' school list if the projected wait exceeds 24 months. The CG does not want you to sit around as a non-rate for years before you attend school. The next delimia is how to place people on the 'A' school list. They are not going to open up the list on a first come first on the list the way we currently fill school list. The RFMC said that it would not be fair to do the list the normal way. Example, 'A' school list message comes out at 1000 eastern standard time and imediatly numerous commands log in and get thier members on the school list. In a couple of hours there will be 100+ on the list and the folks on the West coast have not even gone to work yet the see the message. ASVAB score for ME is the same as for the BM rate.

Just another tid bit. Those of you from other rates whom take the SW in OCT (RES and AD) and put in a package for ME, will be pulled out of the advancement in your rate and the scores will be merged into an advancement list for ME for 2010. That is my understanding. Not a bad deal, for a while there I was thinking no advancement till 2011 (at least for reserves)

OK so as a BM2, the BM1 SWE is currently waived, how will that work out?

That is a real good question, and I do not have the answer. I suppose time in service, awards, TIG, will be computed. I really don't know. Looks like you may stand a better chance of making ME1 than someone who has to take the SW. Call MECM Muise, he is really on top of things and very helpful.

I check CGMS probably 1,000,000 times per day, looking for just that. Nothing yet, but I heard it would be this month.
