I'm definitely seriously considering applying to lateral over. I am just curious as to some of the quals that might be required to do so, and also what the rating might require in general.

I'm OPSBO, OPSHL, BO Cert Ashore, and qualified on 40, M16, 870, 240B.

What are some of the requirements that you guys think will impact the rating? SAI maybe?

I don't think if there going to make quals any part of it, just like your just going to lateral if thats what you want. I really think thay shouldn't be letting GM's do it. Not to be dissing, just maybe should keep it to BMs and MKs, for now at least.

Really, I think you should be reading the MSG Boards and the new RFMC info. Some of the answers are on those messages. And why not GM's? Roll Eyes We do just as much of the LE as any other rating. Wink

The ME EPQs are on the Learning Portal. Print them out and start working on them now.

I think anything above and beyond that is a plus right now.

Good luck!

First you have to sign in with your lowercase E-mail address and Password.

Then in the black taskbar click on Course Catalog.

Scroll down and click on Enlisted Advancement, then down to and click on Enlisted Performance Qualifications (EPQ)

Under the EPQs you'll find Maritime Enforcement Specialist (ME).

There ya go...

Jerry. et al;

A recent change to the sign on will require you to sign in once and then access to your CG email to get your 'new' password.

MC:

I've got my new Learning Portal password already.

My question is, can folks like Carlos, AKA 2378094, whose Public Profile lists him as Army Veteran/Prior Service, access the CG Learning Portal without a ".mil" E-mail address?

Just curious...

Not any way I know of, and I believe it has to be a USCG.mil. I will see if I can find out though.

EDIT: OK, found it, on the FAQ page:

"... Only Coast Guard employee's (Military, Civilian and Auxiliary) with an Employee ID number can access this site."

Okay, thanks MC!

Sorry, Carlos, you're going to have to join the CG/CGR to access the ME EPQs.

Belay my last. Young Carlos is in the Global.

You might want to update your Public Profile, SN.

I have been paying much attention to the ME rating but not sure about lateraling over. My question is who can sign the ME EPQ's? we have printed them out and some members have been working on them but until their is guidance on who can sign on these most members are just talking about it. I have spent a deployment with a PSU and in my opinon there are a bunch of EPQ's that seem like part of a PS's EPQ's. As far a GM's doing as much LE as BM's I have seen many GM BTM's but not so much as BO's and I have worked with GM's at stations and afloat but i think the ME rate should be open to all rates who meet the minimum requirements. just my 2 cents.

Folks;
This is right from the very first paragraph of the EPQs (all of them):

"The DATE and INITIALS column shall be completed by a designated supervisor (E-5
or above) at least one pay grade higher than the trainee and preferably of the same occupational specialty."

Now, unless you work directly for one of the FOUR MECMs, the 'preferably...' part is out the door. All of the proper references for both leanring the EPQ and for the supervisor to evaluate the performance are listed on the EPQs.
