The design features an outer badge that is currently the insignia for the Port Security Specialist (PS) and the Investigator (IV) ratings. The interior symbol is the Coast Guard Shield. The Coast Guard Shield was used from 1908-1915 as the rating insignia for the former Coast Guard Master-at-Arms (MAA) rating which was disestablished in 1915
We kind of already do... the TACLET insignia. There currently isn't a qual insignia for BO and I dont see a reason to have one. As far as a pin to distinguish MEs I vote NO. No other rating has a distinguishing pin so why would the MEs?
And they could remove it and pin it in their wallet next to their CAC card. Now they have credentials!
Or, if people really must have something to show the world who they are, how about a pin that has the letters: B.O. You could pin in above your CG tape.
BM2 was asking a simple question. I am sure the CG will not make a qual pin for an entire rate. But if there was one I'm sure allot of you prospect ME's out there would be on the phone with woodbine the very next day.
and the GM2s (not BM2) question was answered, now we're just having fun. I'll also throw in that the assumption that every ME will be a qualified BO is incorrect.
Well MSSTs are boat forces units so they would be eligible for the BF insignia and it would be much to add another insignia. However I would like to see the TACLET insignia modified to cover all of the units under DOG.
just remember one thing.....self praise is no praise...If you need a pin on your uniform to define your success in the guard you need another occupation period.
