Has anyone heard if there were a lot of OS’s that applied for the rate? I am an OS2 with BTM experience, but I am worried that because the OS rate is critical it will affect my chances of being selected.

As per the ME message, the two major things that are being used for consideration to the ME rate are needs of service and prior training.
Being in a critical rate could severely dampen your chances unless of course (hypothetically) 400 E-5's applied and they need 400 to fill all of the billets.
I am no expert in this matter, so this is of course my opinion from what I have gathered from the messages and the CG Portal.

Sounds about right, also there is an OS to ME topic on the OS board, check it out some info there.

Good info so far. The last report I saw had significantly more OSs applied than billets lost, and the paygrade mismatch was worse. We gave 30 billets to the ME rating. 25 of those were at OS3 from the 270 & 378 fleet.

The board will be given constraints based on needs of the service, which will/are being reviewed at the highest levels. Some of that may be made public, some may not. It will be a wait and see thing.

MC,

Out of curiosity, at what level were the remaining 5 billets we gave to the ME rating? (i.e. E-5/6/7...)

After reading this post I'm very interested to know how many OSs did apply? I know at SECTOR Guam we had 4 OSs including myself. 3 E5s and 1 E6. I wonder if the results were like that around the CG? Eek Looking forward to the lateral message when it comes out!

There were about 7 or so from my unit. OS3's, OS2, but mostly OS1's.
