I was told yesterday I'll be going to a PRT in Afghan. I'm an MA, and I was just wondering what would my duties would include in a PRT. I havne't been given any other info other than my report date and that I'll be doing my training at FT. Bragg. Has anyone (MA or not) gone through the training at Bragg? And what can be expected of a PRT in Afghan as far as duties and living conditions? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Your job description could change before you get settled down in theater. You probably wont get details about your job till your in theater or in trianing. I got told the same thing but still wanted to know what I was doing. Didn't help, so I decided to be patient.

When I went through the training in Fort Riley, I was designated for one job. Once I got to Camp Phoenix, I got sent to a different mission tasking.

Afghanistan living condition differ depending on what part of the country you live in. I'm up in the mountains, so the weather here is different from the dust you taste every day in Phoenix. Best to google the country and study the climates and regions. Also the customs.

One big custom is drinking chia tea with the Afghans. Doesn't taste bad, but I reccomend you drink from the handle side of the glass. You won't have any idea if they wash the glasses or not. That or if they use tap water or bottles water. The easy way to figure that out is if you are sitting on the sh*tter soon after!!

As long as the water has been boiled you'll be safe. It's the fresh fruit and vegetables you have to watch out for, as they've been rinsed in that quality Afghan water....

Which class were you at Fort Riley? We probably know some of the same people.
