Alright gents,

i'm a FMF corpsman that has already done a 9 month deployment with the marines. I just got the word that i'm going IA with the army this time around. Why do i have to go through their training when i've already have the experience and more from what they teach. Is there a way around this or get advance training?

I don't think there is a way around it. My husband has to go through the same training every time that he gets deployed. More of a recert type of thing once you go through it. But I am just the wifey, so you may want to talk to your chain. Thank you

You're going to train with the Army so that you know how THEY do things, not the Marine way. Wink
It's a bit different.

Yep, I agree with everyone else - you have to do the Army's training no matter what. Very close friend of ours went through the Army training for an IA billet in Iraq. (We're Navy)

You will go through about 3 weeks of training at Ft Jackson probably. You wont do 'Army training', the Army isnt going to teach you something you dont already know. You are already a Combat Warrior, you could teach them a thing or two.

Beware of being treated far differently than you were treated by your devil dog comrades.

Even though you have deployed with the Marines, you are now going on an IA and all that do the IA have to go through training, we all named it NARMY Training, because it is mandated by CENTCOM and other higher ups. Granted you have had combat experience and training with the Corps you will have to go through the Army version. Our stint at Ft Dix was 3 weeks, there were others that I know doing IA's that had the 3 week training and the lots of other training to go through.
