I got orders saying I am headed to San Diego Kuwait. I am supposed to be their tell April 2010. So I got questions.. Training, where is my family supposed to go. ECT Mostly about training. Are all IA's sent to Army bootcamp or just ones going to Iraq and Afganistan? What about the fellas like me going to Kuwait. Will I have to go through army bootcamp for 2 months before deploying. Good thing I found this thread or I would have posted it on the Navy Disscussion board.

Where is your family supposed to go?? They don't go anywhere, they aren't authorized to move with you if that's what you mean. If they decide to go back to wherever family is, that's on your dime, not the military's.
As far as training goes, you go to training wherever it is that they send you to and train with the rest of the guys/gals, and head out from there.
Don't over think this too much, you'll get more details soon. Contact your POC for answers. Smile

you are deploying.. Family stays put.

yes everybody goes.. DH is at Ft Jackson right now and he is NOT going to either Afghanistan or Iraq. while there is a BCT at Ft Jackson that is NOT what he is doing. he's also only there for 3 weeks, but a friend of ours who is going to a different location is training for three MONTHS.

My situtaion is a little diffrent. My orders are PCS/IA orders not normal pull you out of command orders. My family has to move because the base CO of NSA Naples, Italy is not going to let me family stay here. They have to go back home state side and the military has to pay for it because it is a PCS move.
Where is FT Jackson? UGH so much confusion and I am just going IA to a Green zone.

Well, that is a little different--the family being in Italy an' all. lol...
I'd have to say to contact your travel folks, outbound.....and then you'll need to contact San Diego. Navy's a bit different than Army, but I'd start with the outbound folks first.

then you rate a PCS move to your Home of record. you can possibly choose another location, based on certain criteria.. such as if you have follow on orders in hand for a new duty station.. they can PCS right there. or if you want to move thenm someplace that is not as far as your HoR from Italy, you can sometimes get them to sign off on that. but unless your HoR is Honolulu, you cannot just choose any old place.

Ft Jackson is in SC. while you are there you are not permitted to drink, you are not permitted to leave base until Saturday afternoon (overnight)and must be back Sunday afternoon.

For IA training I went to ECRC (Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center)
Ft. Bliss. It was NOT anything like bootcamp. Actually there were some good times that I look back on. There were no Cadre with "attitudes" getting in people's faces, we were all treated with the utmost respect and I myself gained alot of respect for the Army soldiers conducting the training, from E-4 (Specialist and or Corporal) on up. I was also impressed with the professionalism of the junior enlisted E-3's. So don't worry, you'll do fine.
