To say that I am disappointed would be an understatement. It appears that just a few of us are carrying the load here with very little participation from anyone else. Everyone kept saying they wanted an ADA Forum and after extended effort it was finally obtained. Since August 07 until now June 08, there have been approximately

148 Topics

Folks, thats about 40,000 views (or lurkers) that had no reply.

Out of almost 42,000 views that is a very poor showing. You folks that are just viewing need to participate. This is your forum and will only be what you make it. Frankly, I am getting tired of posting and having such little response.

well, i lurk alot to see what ADA is up to. but im 20 years out, i dont remember much so i dont usually have anything constructive to say, this forum is not kind to those that dont have anything constructive to say so i keep my mouth shut. on top of that i was on a vulcan and SHORAD is mostly dead IMO, though the C-ram is interesting and the new mobile slammer should get some attention back to ADA.
i come here to educate my self on the ADA life now, so i enjoy reading your posts. i also like to see what the current first to fire soldiers are doing and what they are doing it on.

Thanks for your post, and we are all interested in what anyone from ADA has to say, past, present, or future. Yes, I know how foggy the memory can become as the years past, but you would be amazed how some things will come back to you. What I especially enjoy reading is personal experiences that each person has had. So anything ADA related to VULCAN or SHORAD you have I am sure we would enjoy hearing.

Furthermore anytime anyone is unkind to a fellow ADA member on this forum, you just let me know and I will address that in a proper manner.

Boy do I get that...

Altho I know what a vulcan is, I do watch Star Trek, I know nothing about them and little about Chapparal.. I was M33/120MM Gun, Nike Ajax and Hercules, with some time on AN/TPS-1D

SHORAD has no meaning to me... Whats a C-ram and a mobile slammer???

At my age, I barely know what ADA stands for...But Im still good once as I ever was.

Morning I, I'm not too much into posting myself. regretably I hadn't been on line too much. I would have found out about Col Brown earlier.

I seem to average about 252 posts a year. Most of those come during College football. Or when I had a few beers.

I enjoy the form tremendously and I do not want to think of it as a "requirement" or something I have to do, then it will cease to be fun. I will try to post a little more regularly no matter how irrevalent my response appears to me.

sorry i am n0ot here more often. i WILL say this.. thru MilCom, i jave reconected with some of my old troops.

i never thought i made much of an impact, in the army, but i have had troops find me here with messages like "i have been looking for you for years"

this place has been a God send to my morale, as well as my Ego.

i use this place to discuss what i otherwise would keep to myself, in fear of getting into a fgist fight.
i am able to bounce my ideas off anyone and see (without the pain) where i stand in the political spectrum.

thanks MilCom and thanks Migs, IHawker, and all the rest of you who put iup with my communist, apologetic arguments.

Hey, IHAWKER, Migbuster et al. I first joined mil.com in hopes of conecting with some of those ole buddies from back then. I feel I've shaken the tree for all it's worth but found nobody...except you guys and a few others on other forums, all new to me. I'll tell you guys, your posts (and all the rest) make my visits here enjoyable. Like paquime says, much of what you more active, experienced types post is way over my head. Mine was only a 3 year hitch way back when but I still feel someway connected to the old Nikes and Nike Vets. Mostly what I have to offer is "old war stories" and reminiscences that probably mean more to me than anyone else. I don't want to be a pain in the azz to anyone.

Mig, if you only have ~30 min/day in here, you must be a speed deamon typer, I see your posts everywhere (and enjoy them, BTW) Speed may explain what I've seen others say about your spelling/grammar - it's just that you make your keyboard smoke.

I was Ordnance, attached to ADA and kind of treated like the proverbial ugly step child till my second year in Germany. I made it a point to be away from the home unit as much as possible, avoid all the chicken s hit. The only way to do that was to make myself useful "on site". It got to the point where battery cadre were requesting my services, speciffically, and treating me more like an honorable guest - hanging and BS-ing with the officers in their "Club" areas and getting "special" consideration in the chow line (sometimes embarrasingly so). All in all, I love my whole Nike/Germany experience. It has a great deal to do with who I am today and what/how I've lived for the last 43 years.

IHAWKER, thanks for your effort in establishing this thread. Please don't loose faith. Maybe your shake-up will inspire more/other reluctant people to post. It has me.

Well, if you guys do throw in the towel we would probably not discard the topic but roll it back in with Field Artillery because you are getting hits with the content here.

BTW, here are your Forum stats:

Avg Daily Page views: 150-200
Avg Daily Posts: 1-5

This forum is not the lowest ranked though in the Army Forums. I believe Veterans Benefits is. Also there are some others I forget which are also about the same or lower then this one.

The only advice I can give is keep trying different approaches. Maybe add some stickies on ADA training? Maybe ADA manuals? Thats all I can think of.

Thanks for all the input and advice from everyone. No, we are not about to throw in the towel on this forum … we ADA’ers are not quitters. I’m sure that the FA forum has more activity, but they have had a forum much longer than we have. Also there are a lot more people in FA than in ADA so I do have faith and confidence that in time we will build this forum and attract more of the ADA crowd.

Cheapthrills, we would all be interested in hearing about your experiences and “war stories” from your active duty days regardless as to how long ago they were. The young troops that come here can learn from our experiences. So please do not hesitate to post as no matter how unimportant or dated you may thing it may be someone will always enjoy reading what you have to say and perhaps even learn something.

ADA is a small and close knit family when you compare to the whole Army. There is nobody in ADA more important and anyone else, be it Nike, Hawk, Chap, or what have you. We all had a mission and a job to do and we did it very well. Often some of the infantry types try to make you believe that they are the most important branch of the Army and that everyone else is there just to support them … I just let them go on and think what they want. We all know that we are unique and special and I am sure that each and everyone of us are proud to have served under the ADA banner.

War stories old and new, pictures, personal experience, jokes, etc are all welcome as are questions and inquiries concerning ADA. So tell a friend or a buddy and ask them to join us here.

The Infantry always does that but it's not meant to be taken literally by other MOS'.

I think the problem with ADA is that in conflicts since the Cold War ended it has not really got any news play AND that is really what drives the interest in our society.....unfortunately.

I'll tell you one thing you are missing in this Forum is news or tech specs on the Missile defense system they are trying to put into the Eastern Bloc. That might generate interest but if you post that stuff keep it within the OPSEC guidelines.
