Ok, long story short. Im 18 and recently enlisted as infantry. Come to find out my GF is prego and she insisted i change jobs, I didnt mind and contacted my recruiter and he was ok with it.( I was kinda happy to change as I got 14S on my career sheet and was my second choice). Anyway, so now I go wednesday to do all the paperwork and hope 14S is on my career sheet still. Questions:
How is 14S? Iraq nor iran has many planes so what do you do? Do you enjoy it? I read alot and did alot of research and some say they did and some say it was pointless. Any light you can shed fill free. Think you again for your time. HOOOOAH also for anyone who dosent know 14S is avenger crew memeber. |

I believe most people in this section of the forum will tell you that you can't go wrong with ADA. I just wish I could say you would be going to Ft. Bliss.

I'm not as up to speed on it as some of the others like ihawker, but I believe they are in the process of somewhat combining Field Arillery and ADA. They recently moved the Air Defense headquarters from Ft. Bliss to Ft. Sill Oklahoma. Ft. Bliss is still there, it just isn't the home of Air Defense Artillery anymore.

That is correct. When all this moving is completed only the 11th BG will be at Bliss, and I not sure if even that is true. |

That is correct. To best of my knowledge, only the 11th ADA BG will remain at Bliss, but I'm not even sure about that over the long haul. |

14S; Avenger Crewmember.
There are Avenger units at FT. Bliss, FT. Lewis, FT. Hood, FT. Bragg, FT. Campbell, and in Korea. In addition to Avenger operations, the 14S soldiers are heavily involved in the rapidly evolving Counter-Rocket, Artillery, and Mortar (C-RAM) system. C-RAM elements are currently deployed in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, in the next few years some Avenger units will start to transition to the new SLAMRAAM weapons system. |

When do you ship out. It gets cold as hell in the winter time. Tropical Storm winds on the Mississippi Gulf Coast don't mean squat compared to that wind at Sill, if you are going this winter be prepared to freeze your azz off!! Damn its cold there!! Just this post made me halve to grab an extra blanket!!
Good luck and do me a favor and keep me updated. Of course you can't post from BCT, but I would love to hear how things are going for you as time goes along and you have the chance. If there is anything I can do for you, let me know!!! God's Speed Brother! |
