Air Force Reserve Member Burned in Fiery Crash – Needs Our Help and Prayers
SRA Ehren S. Sherow is an Air Force Reserve Helicopter Crew Chief assigned to the 943d Maintenance Squadron, 943d Rescue Group at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona. He is a full-time student in his senior year, just weeks from graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics from Embry Riddle University in Tucson, Arizona. He is married to Saundra Sherow and has no children. Ehren is approximately 26 years old.
On 17 April 2007, at approximately 2130 hours, Ehren Sherow was on his way home from classes when tragedy struck. He was not in a military status. He was involved in an accident classified by authorities as an incidence of road rage. His vehicle was clipped by another forcing him into on-coming traffic. He struck a vehicle head-on which caused his vehicle to roll off the road. When his vehicle came to rest, it burst into flames. He received 3rd degree burns over 55% of his body and broke his tail bone. Once the fire was put out, it took rescue workers over an hour and a half to extricate him from his mangled 2004 Chevy Tahoe. The responsible driver was arrested for vehicular assault and booked into the Pima County Jail.
Ehren was rushed to the University Medical Center. Later that night he was transported via Medivac to the Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, considered one of the nation’s premier burn care centers. He is in critical condition with life threatening burns on his arms, legs and part of his face. He is currently in a drug-induced coma and is undergoing numerous surgeries to remove damaged skin. Estimates are that he will need to stay in Phoenix, Arizona, for recovery and treatment from 6 to 12 months.
