First of all my name is Charles. My Grandfather, John, was one of the original members of the Seabees in WW2. He has been passed away for some years now and still remains the most influential person in my life. He taught me more about being an upright, upstanding man of integrity than any other adult male in my life while growing up. Well here is where I need help. I have been trying to get my hands on a Seabee manual for some time now. Not any current one but the original one. The same one that was issued to my grandfather. I want to get a picture of how the man who taught me discipline acquired his own. "We build we fight" has so much more meaning to than just a military motto. If you've read this thanks for taking the time to do so. If you can provide me with any help, links, resources, any avenue to help me find this manual would be extremely appreciated.
Not sure I know what you mean by manual. Your first course should probably be, to find out what batallion or regiment he was with. Once you've done that, google that batallion, and start asking questions on their web site. Good luck, keep us posted.
I don't know what manual you are talking about but I agree with Billdawg24 find out what battalion he served and when and you can go to the seabee museum website http://www.seabeemuseumstore.org/ and order cruse books on cd from that Battalion. Also visit http://www.seabeesmuseum.com/ This is the Davisville RI seabee museum home of the first seabees. If you are in that area you should stop by. It is not a large place(it is next to a mall) but it has a lot of WWII Seabee stuff. I went when I was at the Senior Enlisted Academy and was impressed. good luck
