I just signed my DEP contract for BU and currently waiting for my March ship date to get moved up. I have a couple questions regarding this rate.
I am going in as an E2 and would like to know the best way to advance to E3, E4, etc?
I really would like to get stationed in Port Huaneme after A school so what can I do to up my chances of that happening because i heard you can make request?

Advancement:
E2-E3 - 9 Months E3-E4 - You have to have 6 months "Time in Rate" TIR to be eligible to take the E4 Exam.
Duty Station:
In "A" School you will submit a "dream sheet" requesting a particular coast and ideal duty locations. There is NO GUARANTEE you will get one or the other -- while detailers try to accommodate people's wishes, it boils down to the needs of the Navy.

-I moved Quick as a BU while I was in, my advice check with your training coordinator when you get your home after A-School, work hard, & pass your pt quals, get your Seabee combat handbook or whatever they have now and the book for BU3 and buckle down get them in so your eligible to test when you get your needed time in. maybe do the Special warfare stuff as well,same for when you go for BU2 if you can get into stuff that makes you stand out, and try to get the C-1 Advanced Builder school when you get to E-5
I really would like to get stationed in Port Huaneme after A school so what can I do to up my chances of that happening because I heard you can make request? when you do your dream sheet put down either a MNCB or Amphib unit in Huaneme for your choices they are large commands & BU is a pretty large rate so you probably will have a good shot at it.
