This is my first time on the forum, so I apologize if am posted in the wrong forum. I am a 34 year old prior service active duty USAF. I spent 7.5 years active duty and have been separated since September 1999. I want to join the USAF Reserves, but my DD Form 214 has a RE Code of 3D and a separation code of KBK; will I have a difficult time getting a waiver to join the USAF reserves, and what is the lead time on getting a waiver approved?

You will not need a waiver to affiliate with the Air Force Reserve.
An RE Code of 3D & KBK is okay.

What about RE-3G and GFX from navy, would the AFR let me in?

Unfortunatley - an OTH discharge is a permanent disqualifing factor.

I'm not sure on all of your circumstances - But RE 3G & GFX at face value would make you ineligible for the Air Force Reserve.

Ive done 4 yrs active and 5 years reserves. I got out the reserves with an honorable discharge with an RE 4 due to missing too many drills. Is it possible for me to go back into any branch?

I cannot speak for any of the other branches - I'd recommend speaking with a recruiter for each of them.

As for the Air Force Reserve, you wouldn't be eligible.

Sorry to both the mods and the active members of this forum. I am not Airforce (as shown by my profile, but Ifelt the need to point this out: Former YN-Concidering you needed a RE-4 waiver to get into the reserves in the first place Why do you think they should waive you again?

It's funny how when people screw up, they think the world owes them something. (And no, I'm not referring to your pregnancy. Though, something's not right, you either failed to inform your command, or they fouled up. Your defensiveness tells everyone that you were at fault for your first RE-4.) Roll Eyes

Sgt..just because people got out with RE4s doesnt mean that they screwed up and think the world owes them something..please get off that high horse your on..and my first RE4 code..was changed..took 3 years but it was cause the navy messed up on my orders for me to obliserve another year when I didnt know I was suppose to...they let me out without telln me about the RE4 when i was suppose to get counseled..which they didnt.

If I would have known..I wouldnt have gotten out at the end of my suppose to be 4 year contract.I didnt even find out about the obliserve until i tried to go into the reserves and it took my recruiter and the CO some weeks to find out why they gave me the RE4..next..with my pregnancy..yes they knew that i wouldnt be in majority of the time..plus they made an issuse about my PRT paperwork not having a signature. I didnt sign it cause i wasnt there..and i didnt know i needed to sign off on a prt paper b/c i had a pregnancy wavier. stupid rules for certain commands..NEXT..my defensiveness comes from a MOD thats suppose to be making sure things are going smoothly on the boards..I typed on here to get answers or help..not people smart comments cause u or anyone can keep
them to yourself k thanks!!! Since Ive been out..I have a degree in surgical tech and yea i would like to go back in if i can..so its either u have an answer yes or no for me..if not..please leave your *the world owe u something comments to yourself*

GTG. But stop being so defensive! I'd be rich if I got a dime for every defensive RE-4 recipient case that I read! Big Grin
