I met one of the Australian female Officers and she was quite nice.

Canadian Navy has some too. Although their subs are pieces of ****, one hasn't left the homeport in over 2 years. Even the guys on it are calling it **** Now the Canuck Navy girls well all the ones I met at the base were well bruts to say the least.

How long do you think it TAKES to train a Submarine CO?

This isn't something you can just say "Hey you! C'mere! Lemme show ya somet'in."

hmmmm 16 years if memory serves right. That of course assumes a female decides to stay in nuke power that long. Most senior one I remember hearing of was a Senior Chief (nothing above O4 on the officer side), but may have been a rumor. I met a female nuke chief once, briefly.

One of the reasons it works for other countries is first no nukes and second they do not spend the time at sea that our boats do.

There are only two vessels in the world. Targets and Boats.

Another reason is that some other countries figure if she signs up to do the job there's no wussing out , no special treatment . Afore yall load up I know the numbers in the USN who would pull the gender card to skate may be small , but enough would pull it that on a boat it would be bad as there's no way to effectively handle the situation without impacting the boats mission .

Nah. Just make the first one an example to the rest by putting her in shackles in the Diesel room (I'm sure there'd be SOMETHING at that point to warrant NJP and punishment) Big Grin!!!!

Those other nations' subs only go on daily ops, for crissakes!

Now, I'm all for recruiting 'seasoned' veterans to return to active duty. I may start a thread on this, actually - can't you see it now? A geezer in Marine Dress Blues, with the saber? "The Few, The Proud, The Incontinent". Big Grin

The Army could mount a machine gun on the front of those little scooters!

Obviously, I had waaaay too much fun on our 'vacation'. And my 'accomplice' is 'aiding and abetting'... as they say in The Code. Beer

Do all y'all not remember the topic I put up called "Say it isn't so"? Scroll down the list and take a look at the responses. I even listed the prospective CO and XO. Sure fished in a lot of people! Angel/Devil

Can't see why people would question a submariner's sanity. Woman would do fine on my boat... at least for us guy sailors. And as far as my mental capacity goes I lost my mind way back in Groton. 20 straight weeks of sitting in front of a computer doing IMI's and wishing you poke the guy's eyes out who sits next to you cuz he smells like he's shoved a half dead rat up his @$$ and it's trying to get out will do that to you. It gets old REAAAALLY fast.
