Can anyone suggest a study guide for the E5 ET NAV exam? My DH is coming up for E5 & someone told him about North Star study guides, but they don't offer one for ETV. So he asked me to post & see if any of y'all have any suggestions. Thanks in advance..

aren't all the ET exams the same? They USED to be. ET is an ET, regardless if he's a QM, RM, or an RO.

Eric, they changed that a few years back (thank god). Covered in this thread. Read Brandolf's post. Guess they figured they couldn't adaquately test rating knowledge if they tested stuff that the particular flavor ET covered. If I remember correctly the year it changed was 2000, but don't quote me on it

OP have your husband ask on his boat for the bibliography, or look it up on either NKO or NPC, don't remember which. Since ET Nav is classified, I doubt he'll find a study guide off the boat for the exam.

They have been. Again, since around 2000. All nuke ratings get their own exams now. It's a nice change.

I used to like ragging on the coners as much as the next nuc, but to be fair as my non-nuc Weps used to say, it is the aft end that has the cone (behind the screw).

We'd always say "One ship, one crew, one screw" to which the smart nuke replies "and one big shaft back aft" Wink

We were always told "Youvare a nuke, you are smart enough to figure this stuff out." All you have to do is memorize the ET E5 training guide and dump it on the test. That worked for a long time.

Nuke ETs have it too easy these days - thier own advancement test!? - sheeze Big Grin
