I am new on here and have been reading the posts, man have I been out of touch.
In 1995 I couldn't wait to get out of the Navy and lately I have been trying to catch up on the new boats, where have I been?

I was on ssn-676 USS Billfish out of Charleston, SC and now everything is gone.

I just wanted to spout off a little. Thanks...

Welcome Aboard! Stow your gear and have a cup. This is a good crew on here.

If you think you're out of touch - I'm a member of the Holland Club. Now THAT's out of touch!! Big Grin

I had a great association with Billfish - when she was assigned to the CSS-10/DevGru-2, she was my favorite platform for testing our DARPA projects. When did you serve in her? Several of my old friends were skippers - Mac Hughes, Fred Butterworth, and Doug Volgenau. They were all in the 70s. Beyond that, I don't know. She did have an interesting encounter with a piece of, um, 'floating ice' on one occasion. Roll Eyes She has an excellent website, by the way. Check it out, if you haven't already.

Yeah, well - and then there's THAT, too! Sigh. My Lady points that same thing out to me all the time, actually. Wink

I appreciate the fact that y'all put up with me. There's some 'mad mother' over on the Gen'l Discussion thread that I spun up pretty good. Sounded like a gyro coming up to speed! I think I'll just hide out over here for a while. Big Grin

Hey, where's Hegge? He needs to greet Brian. He's as crazy as the rest of us - and makes good beer, from what we hear.

Well, I gotta leave - I'm being 'summoned'. Whisper

Welcome aboard Shipmate, You miss it don't you???... Come on admit it, it was part of the most defining time in your young life... Some bad, but mostly good. Otherwise you would not be venturing in here.

Glad you decided to share.... It’s a fun group here, with lots of experience and wisdom. And as they say in USSVI, You are either "qualified" or you are not. BTW, what was your rating if you don't mind me asking???…

Sounds like good beer there. I just got my latest batch through the primary ferment, and well into the secondary now. Just waitin for it to settle down so I can put it in the keg. I didn't do anything real fancy this time. I wanted a good drinking beer. It's a plain Jane European Ale. Kind of a change from my usual Belgian beauties. Well, we shall see how she tastes later on.

I buy mine....it might not be as much fun, but I have other hobbies to occupy my time and money. Radio Control airplanes are NOT cheap, and I am getting ready to get my open water card from PADI

Good luck Kline. Beer

Back a million years ago I was a PADI instructor. I did that for 6 years before I was a submariner. It seemed like a natural step since I enjoyed being underwater.

Hi, 16993842 Brian. Welcome aboard.

You might consider adding to your profile the boat(s) on which you served.
