I recently received my orders to the USS Boise out of Norfolk. I was wondering if anyone has any particular opinions on the boat, or had been part of her crew. Thanks.

Had them as a Tended unit when I was in Italy. They were a nice bunch of guys... but then again I'm a submariner too, and we are ALL a bunch of 'nice guys'. Few "wise guys" too... but that's another story.

BTW, I met a SSG/E6 in a Cav unit here at work last week. He was on the Nevada the same time you were... He was a boat Corpsman, not sure which crew he was on. I can find out his name if you want.

Pronounced Sub-MARINE-er, spelt submariner... the submariner is the dude in the comic books wearing swimtrunks... or a Brit Sub-Marine-er.

Be prepared to work all the time and have very little time off. You will also put up with alot of BS. Im sorry and good luck.

And the work all the time with no time off is different on the Boise...how? I feel pretty confident that all "fast and black and never come back" sailors feel the same.
