Hey everyone,

I didn't find any posting's of the news so I decided to let people who may of not seen the news know.

There's little to no detail as to what was wrong with the submariner that got evacuated via coast guard helicopter. If you go to google and type in "submariner evacuated off washington coast" you'll be able to see a short video of the rescue.

Seeing that bad boy surface was awesome. The mere sight of a submarine surfacing gives me goosebumps for some reason. Maybe because it's arguably one of the most deadly weapons on the planet. Anyway, can't wait to get on one.

I didn't post a link because I'm sure I read somewhere that any link posted must go to a government website only.

Thanks for clearing that up. I couldn't tell if the sub had either just surfaced or if the waves were just hitting the boat.

I found a link at the navy times website.

That video impressed the h*ll out of me ....professionals all around. I just
am so happy the only time I had to get off a boat was a transfer to a tug in calm seas....

For some reason this thread reminded me of when the Barb (SSN-596) and Gurnard (SSN-662) rescued the B-52 Crew off of Guam back in 72. For those of you who have never heard of that event check out the links below.
Good artist’s impressions of the event on the Navsource link. On the Wikipedia link just scroll down to the 1972-1976 paragraph for the event description. My favorite quote there is: “The heavy weather had already forced surface ships to turn back” HA!!!… So there you go all you Target riding POGUES!!!... I can say that cause of the DLG I served in rode out one heck of a Hurricane force storm in the Med back in 71… 42 degree rolls get your attention… Enjoy if you so desire…
