I noticed by your profile you have made the decision to change service branches, and are going RA.
As someone who made a similar decision many years ago, late 75 early 76 time frame, it took me as a little surprising that you would do that.… What has made you decide to take such a path?????….
I figured you for a “died in the wool” A-Ganger Submarineer only. What MOS or branch are you deciding to get into? Elaborate and enlighten me if you wouldn’t mind please…

I love being a Submarine A-Ganger. But I'm looking to further my intelligence and expand my horizons more. I'll always be a Submariner know matter what I do.
To be honest, working for an Army unit in Afghanistan, my Submarine experience made me the #1 go to NCO. The regular Army guys, SF, and Aussie's loved me.
I'm looking into Military Intel. 35M to be number one on my list. Regular Army.

Originally posted by IC2SS19Z50C5: Biscuits, I think it is admirable that you are deciding to switch service branches. I know some folks here will think you need to be sent off for a no notice p e e test or Psych eval, but we all have to do what is right by ourselves. I asked what MOS and branch also, thinking you may intend to pursue the WO track possibly. That’s why I asked about the branch. You know like Infantry branch, Intel branch etc. Well for me I’m like you, always a Submarineer, first last always. Others here would maybe question that, but my question back to them would be, “What’s your Qual date Brother????”
Biscuits, you will find I’m a big advocate of the U.S.A., but also its biggest critic. I see good Army folks trying their best everyday here at work and I interact with Company Grade Officers and NCOs on a daily basis in my position as a DAC. But the Army’s is spiraling down in a lot of ways, mainly in Senior leadership and Training Management. BDE HQs and Bn HQs pass the buck down and lay it all on the Company, Battery and Troop level commanders to conduct training. I could speak volumes here about it. But the Army needs good people who are willing to “lean into the rucksack” so to speak. I’d be glad to discuss it here or off line with you if you would like. Just remember, it’s a “Big Army” out there and I’d “shop around” to make sure you are getting into what you really want. And I’d not discount the USMC either. Of all the service branches they impress me the most. They do it very well, with common sense and with waaaay fewer assets than the Army does. Plus they are not totally “Ate Up” with too much “Hoo-Aah” like the Army is. Just my two cents worth Biscuits, no more no less. Got questions, just ask, if not good luck Shipmate and keep us all posted…
Best Regards & Smooth Sailing Shipmate, your "Bother of The Phin" “Buck” Davis.

Qual date was 17 dec 2000. Sooner if I hadn't of done the nubly thigg of leaving it on my rack!
As far as WO, if I get oen fo the MI MOS's, I have to do 5 years int hat field before I can go WO. Thats what my intel Officer in Afghansitan told me. A WO3.
Right now I'm wrapped up with getitng my military stuff and personal stuff taken care of. Kinda of overwelmed when I only have two weeks left in the navy and command won't start my outprocessign till I do my brief on the 4th.. #&*$. Runnign into one problem after another the last two weeks. Kinda wish I was back in Afghansitan to be honest.
If you get the 35M MOS like you previously mentioned, are you going to enlist and just head up the street to Fort Shafter or Schofield Barracks after AIT???
And what kind of shake and bake prior service coarse are they going to send you through?. I hope you are not going to tell me they may send you off to basic. That would suck big time!!
I did a two week TDY trip to Schofield Bks back in the fall of 95 just short of a year before I retired. We stayed in GP mediums out in Area X-ray. It was for a big 25th ID warfighter Exercise. Schofield is a great post I think... Lots of history there.

I get alot of "what is that" when I wear my dolphins in my Class "A's". I think being a submariner made me a much better chinook pilot in the Army because of the detail in which we had to know the boat's systems. Now chinook systems are so much easier to learn because of that. If you do cross over to the "big green suck," take what you have learned from the boat and use it and you will be way ahead of the other guys in your class and unit. Good Luck brother.

Glad to see the focus is on the proper subject . Just recently figured the acol in my double stout , turned a pleasant 6.8 and is smooth , crisp , yet wieghty enough for winter . that chocolate bubble up thru the sinuses is good . Ya still got the red crayon too , or did they take it away ? Never tried Big Foot but Obsidian is good , so is 2degree below .
