If you want something said ask a Man; but if you want something done, ask a Woman! Margaret Thatcher

Got April's edition of Readers Digest and this one just stuck right and wanted to pass it along to you all.

"The new Ensign was trying to impress everybody with what he'd learned at Submarine School when the Master Chief cut him off. "Listen, sir, it's simple," he said. "Add the number of times we dive to the number of times we surface. Divide it by two. If it doesn't come out even, don't open the hatch!"

Yep, there are only two axioms to submarining: First, separate the people from the water; Second, make the number of surfaces = the number of dives. All the rest are mere corollaries. Wink

Could say if dives > surfaces keep hatch closed . if I had a better key board I would have a not equal character , so guess i'm the not equal caracter Big Grin
I think the Chief was trying to make it complicated enough for the Ensign to think it important yet simple enough so as not to lose him . Wink

My favorite line I heard (while discussing various casualty actions) "if that happens, we'll discuss it on the surface"

No matter what, the point is a "butter bar" will always be a "butter bar", no matter what branch of service...
