Above from Navy Media Center is a fantastic documentary, narrated by Edward R. Murrow, of the historical feat of USS Nautilus called "Operation Sunshine." Took two tries to travel submerged under the Arctic Circle to shorten passage from Pacific to Atlantic. Features both exterior, interior footage; ticker tape parade in NYC, showing Anderson and Rickover. The boat and crew were truly pioneers. Reminds me of the importance of holding claim to certain waters in Arctic Sister of Submariner, "Tomahawker" |
