Hey everyone im a big Mixed Martial Arts fan and ive been wondering if there are any martial arts programs offered on Air Force bases? Thanks for any input!

Yes, but it will depend on where you are stationed. There are classes on base here but most of the guys go to the gym downtown anyway. Some are all-around MMA, some are BJJ, some are Grand Master Han. It all depends where you end up.

Well thats the news I was hoping to hear. I currenty practice Muay Thai at Crosley Gracies BJJ Academy and I definitely wanna pick it back up somewhere else. Thanks for the heads up!

Yes and No. As UW mentioned, it all depends on where you are stationed and what is available on or off base. All that said, training is up to you, but if you plan on actually fighting, then you must pursue permission from your Commander prior to participating.

Thats good to know. Is getting that permission hard to do?

Again, it will depend on the squadron you end up in. There are 3 guys in my flight alone who fight. A few months ago, there were half a dozen people from base who fought on the same night in the local fights & they even had the pics up on the base page.

The whole getting knocked out isn't so big if you have a job that requires flight status or PRP however.
