Hey folks, 1A9 question...Wanted to be a gunner, it is now 1A9. Looking at AFPC, they had 63 retrain slots for the FY13 and the careerfield as of march 2012 was a critical AFSC and if it stays that way, I can apply to retrain at my 2 year mark (October 2013)..I'll be coming back from a deployment early November and plan to start my paperwork then.
QUESTION IS: Any gunner/FEs/loads expect this number of retrain slots to drop off in the FY 2014? And typically, how long does the whole retaining process take for one to find out if they get accepted?

It can take up to four months after you submit your entire package to find out if you've been accepted or not. You can be put up for up to three boards. They rack and stack all possible applicants each month.
