Good to know but I've been following this story for quite some time, and I don't read that forum.

It is exciting to see risky operations such as this where everybody comes out without a loss.

I can't say a whole lot, but sometimes it just takes a couple of guys with a crazy idea and somebody willing to consider that - it just might be crazy enough to work!

Don't forget to check stuff out before you post, its hard to follow the same topic if they are spread out all over! Smile

Its such a good thing that everyone made it out safe! Bravo!

Thanks for the tip but I am not interested in posting/reading discussions on this massive web site just because somebody already mentioned it on a forum I'd likely never return to much less remember to keep up on. I had already looked for this particular news event on the two AF forums I frequent, and only after finding nothing on the subject matter, created this new discussion.

LOL! How can you not remember one forum if the topic was that important to you? Calm down hun, no need to get all defensive about it. I'm just saying Smile so aside from that, I think we should all be happy that the hostages were rescued and were able to see their families again.

No doubt we all ARE happy they all are safe and it was a win/win - myself more than you can imagine for reasons I'll not go into, but did you really find it necessary to go grab yourself a brand new, 'created today' moniker in order to feel SO important to attempt to take a pot shot telling me to "calm down" and call me "hun"?

Grow up!

Actually, I've been on here for a while, I think I joined sometime in December of last year, probably around the 7th. I never registered on the forums, I didn't know you had to register and couldn't just use an all access account untill I posted today. I suppose my 'created today' monkier would seem pretty strange to you, but everyone has to start somewhere, so being 'created today' isn't really a bad thing. Is that some sort of fault of mine? I don't think so, I just hadn't really felt the need to post anything for a long time, I'm not really the type of girl to throw her 2 cents into every topic. Maybe to please you I should have started posting as soon as I joined the site, but I don't consider your opinion all that importatn. Is something wrong with saying hun? I am sorry if it offended you, that's just a friendly word I use. Hey, if you want to take a friendly little reminder about a silly thing like repeat topics and blow it out of proportion like I was trying to poke you with sticks instead of sticking to the topic fine. You can have your topic.

Well, "hun", I've been frequenting this site for 5 years, and since you claim to have been around for a good 6 months much less the past week, I'm sure you can understand why I responded as I did.

Or not.

Really? Then this raises a concern in my mind, because, with all due respect the implications are obvious here. You are all but explicitly stating that you have/had access to certain information that, due to OPSEC, you cannot discuss.

As a civilian, that would therefore beg the question of how and why you possess such info. I think it would have been far better to have not gone there in the first place, as now legitimate questions can be raised regarding this issue and your direct involvement in it.

Please leave the "I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you" nonsense for the Rambo phonies. Frankly I think you're better than that.

What wifey meant to say I'm sure is that she can not say it because it's potential OPSEC...

Example..

She states: We like to hang out after work.
I State: We get off at 1100
You State: We hang out at the DFAC
Friend writes: The DFAC is a big white tent...

Piece it together in four different topics and BAM... the enemy found out the DFAC is white, and an entire shift is there at 1100, which means there's probably more there and a perfect time to attack that location.

When in doubt, always play the OPSEC card, you can't be wrong in that fact.

As for the news forum... I never use it, if it's not posted in the Air Force forum, I usually don't know it happened.

Didn't General Franks get investigated for things quite similar to what she is implying. That was a big stinky mess there.

Awesome! Thanks for the post Wifey. Not everyone checks four million forums everyday. This was the first I heard about it!

Folks,

She posted here because it has matters releated to the AF, even as a mod, I don't go reading all the news articles. Perhaps she just shared knowing that alot of us don't go there and felt since it was AF she would through it out for discussion.

Discussion ! Not the immediate, "its already all over the news" and such.

This is not going to turn into an everytime she posts that we are going to jump on Wifey for each word and thing she does.

Like her or not, there is nothing wrong with the post. If thier was, the passing of George Carlin should be a topic you search out and throw your pissy two cents into as well.

Leave it alone.

Are there some big parties going on at DM?

This has been a really bad year for the FARC.

I imagine there are a lot of folks celebrating ON D-M and at USSOUTHCOM. It is well known this isn't the first time the US military and lots of other US agencies have tried to ***ist the Colombians in recovering our folks and theirs.

No kidding though, this risky, but successful operation was entirely cooked up and executed by the Colombian military. Hat tip to those guys!

This too shall p***. It always does...

Anyway, one of the guys over at the 1911Forum used to shoot with one of the contractors that was just rescued, as well. Quite a touching story from his perspective!

Bravo to a job well done. Not a shot fired in the whole thing, and both the FARC and the ****** rebels are probably still scratching their heads over this one!

I worked with the Colombian military for many years. Unlike you, I'm not surprised that they could pull this off.

They get 15 guys back, and the FARC still holds over 400...

Bet its kind of rough for those 400 these days.

But agreed, a well planned and even better executed operation! Kudos to Columbia!

True, but the ones that were liberated were some very high-value targets. The FARC's stock in trade is kidnapping. They do it not only for the terror aspect, but for funding.

This op took some wind out of their sails.
