Just wondering what you think the main reason (or reasons) if for failure in the TACP program?
I've heard failure rates are about 50%, not sure if this is true or not. Of course for Com Controllers I've heard like 90%, but it's a much longer course.
Is it that some people are just not built physically (genetically) to uphold the physical standards? Or is it generally more of a mental thing for most people who fail? (Like maybe they realize this isn't what they want to do & give up half way through). Or is it they aren't able to learn everything that is required in the time period?
Just wondering as I've heard that attrition rate is 50% or so, but never heard what the causes for the failure rates might be.
I find it odd that everyone thinks of CCT and PJ training as the ultimate challenge. I see these TACP guys working their tails off every day at Hulrburt. I would put their training equal to what I saw the PJ's doing at Kirtland when I was there as far as PT goes. They work a hell of a lot harder than the Advanced Skills Training PJ's and CCT here at Hurlbuft in PT.
