The thought occurred to me that with the kind of schedules people keep in the military today, that many Dependents and AD don't go in for help when they need it.
Most of the time, the person doesn't realize that they need help, but their behavior normally indicates they do. What do some of you think this can be attributed to? Like: Long and frequent deployments Dependents having to bear the brunt of all the responsibilities at home No social circle to support them... etc... Also, which category might be most affected by the 'stigma' associated with seeking professional help. Thanks for your input. |

I think there are two extremes
Stigma - nobody wants to admit they need help, everyone and their families suffer because of it No stigma - everybody dopes up their kids because they would rather run around than sit still The Family Readiness Center deals with this kind of stuff, and have referral programs I think. Sometimes I think if certain career fields didn't have to report voluntary visits to Mental Health to the SSO, more people might go. |
