Honestly, when I left McGuire in '97, there wasn't ******** (Watch the language 2T2) around the base. The best thing was the Golden Bobo chinese restaurant. Wonder if that's still open?

You've got Cherry Hill which isn't too far away. There's a mall and other civilization out there. Six Flags is about 20 minutes from base, IIRC. You are about an hour from Philly and two hours from either NYC or Baltimore, if you feel like traveling on your days off.

There WAS a little putt-putt golf course and go-kart track over on Ft. Dix. I don't know if it's still there, though. That was always a fun time. The devil on my shoulder STILL regrets not stealing one of the "Tank X-ing" signs on Dix in the middle of the night. The angel on my other shoulder (and my police record) are pretty glad I didn't, though. If you happen to "come across one", I'd be happy to take it off your hands... Wink

Right in WRI/Browns Mills area, I think there was a 2-screen movie theater and a bowling alley, as well as a very small shopping center. I'm serious, there was nothing right around the base. That was all ten years ago, though, so I'm sure a lot has changed since then.

There, does that help at all?

Are you referring to Dix? Or the AFB there? If you are being sent to Dix for pre-deployment training you won't need to worry so much about what's in New Jersey. You probably won't get time to find out. The Chinese place is a big hit according to my son's debit card statement.

McGuire. I am going TDY there, so I will have time to go out maybe, depending how increased the workload is. Supposedly Dover and McGuire's workload is going to be huge now, that is why they need people. We shall see!

I saw a lot of McGuire C-17's when I was on the Sandy Side of the world. They are definitely haulin' the trash!

At least you'll have the 60K's now. When I there we didn't have Tunners yet. We had to use the Cochran or the TL40 for all the 10's! THAT supremely sucked during winter.
