Any job is what YOU the person make of it.
Who's to say you will be happy in another MOS? Just like any job there are the ups and downs, when its down time, go to school for advancement. Or go to College. I started out as a 76A (92A now) Just sent to the Inf, then back to supply, did nothing, drove a truck for awhile, went back to supply. Got station at good old Ft. Sill, there they made me a ammo humper for 105 tow. Now that suck, but got muscles... Got out of the service for about 1 1/2 yrs, went back in. Sent down to Panama, work supply. Then Ft. Hood, serve a almost two yrs with the Rangers, then back to supply, went to Hawaii as a Supply Sgt and made Warrant in Supply in 1976. Now no matter where I was or what job I was doing, I always stay focus on supply..Went to a ton of schools mostly in supply and other requirements for promotions etc. There is Always a need for Supply type people when and if you decide to leave the service. Not so much for 56M. None that pay anyhow. Supply is a base from where you can work to go on to other jobs as well, it teaches you how to think and get things done. I spent 38 plus yrs in Supply, I work for the Army, Navy, Airforce reserves and Airguard. And maybe if you get out you can always apply for a government job in Logistics, there the sky is the limit.... |

I'm a 63B but I've spent about half my career so far operating the ULLS/SAMS box. I like it. I sit on my azz all day. That's not why I like it though. Since I know i have all day to recover, I push myself extra hard during PT and try to do a little PT during lunch. I think that's the best benefit of being a 92A. When all my paperwork is caught up I take a few minutes to adjust a mirror or kick a tire.

You have the right idea poking around the forum. I've been supply for a few years but I found that I was always asking people what their jobs were like and where had they been. There are a million stories in the army and it's up to you to make yours. The best thing that you can do is keep poking around the forums...check your reenlistment options...work on correspondence and college.
Do things in the meantime that could open doors and create opportunities down the line. Every unit no matter how "blah" is bound to have some NCO's that would be more than happy to help you figure these things out. Just remember that no matter what happens you are in control of your life...you need to make and take the initiative. |
