92A's work in the motor pool. They order parts, pick up parts, acquire parts, find parts, haggle for parts, steal parts, etc. As a 63B I've done my fair share of 92A cross-training, and I'll say that if you like being busy 92A is the MOS for you. It's one of the few MOS's in the Army that is legitimately busy all the time. You can find yourself in pretty much anywhere as a 92A.

I hope you're a good people person. Although a lot of their work is on computer, the real nuts and buts of their job is dealing with people. They need to make friends with everyone so that they can get what they want when they really need it. A 92A can make or break a motor pool. It's an important MOS in my opinion.

92A take a loooooooooooooong time to make E-6. I know some great 92A's still stuck at E-5 because they need to basically max all points to make E-6.

I'm working in a 92A slot here in Belgium. I don't know how easy it is to go here as a first duty assignment but I have seen a few people that arrived here as their first duty....

I started out as a 76A (old time mos)really didn't work it until 1970 (came in 1965).

Then I ran a DX as an E-4 down in Panmama, then I transfer to Ft. Hood..Did a bout with A/75th Rangers and tranfer to the 3/1, then 1/6, then 1/9 Cav. (all at Ft. Hood, Tx)

During my time with the Cav in a motor pool I started off as a TAMMS Clerk (not many remember that one) it was a step lower then a PLL clerk, then unit Pll clerk then I took over the Bn Pll.

Now I did this all in less then 3 yrs, but I really pour on the schools (mostly in 76Y) Supply Sgt, one get promoted quicker there.

I made E-6 in 1974 and Warrant in 1976 in Hawaii back with the 25th Inf ( the div I was in Nam with).

I guess the point is this..there is a starting point and 92A is a very good point, but don't let it be your end.
Get some time under your belt learn your job better then anyone else.
Go to all schools that you can (for 92A and then 92Y now I believe).

If you do as I say, you should make E-6 in under 10 yrs maybe sooner (but not in the 92A field, once you learn it, get out of it, go for Supply Sgt)

Once you have that, SGM or Warrant is obtainable but not with 92A (its just the beginning)

Good Luck

92a `s dont only work in the motor pool we have many places of duty we can go anywhere and we can do anything as a 92a youll probably do almost every mos there is including yours f your not capable of leading this is definetly not the mos for you the promotion system isnt as bad as it seems if you look at it this way youll be promoted because you worked for it and deserve it other mos` you can easily get rank in but ours is earned. i cant wait to enlist and become army strong !!!
